Predict The First Cancellation Of The 2010-11 Season

I've seen a couple of print ads for new series debuting this fall.

For example, ABC's new Tuesday night sitcom vehicle "No Ordinary Family," starring Michael Chiklis, probably capitalizing on the success of his "Fantastic Four" character. The premise of the series is a family with supernatural powers. The son on the show is a dead ringer for David "Bud Bundy" Faustino, and thought things were so hard for him, he had to revert to another child role. (I confirmed through iMDB that it's a different actor.) At any rate, many shows have gone through this well many a time, from "The Jetsons" to the old Donna Pescow series "Out Of This World," and I believe "No Ordinary Family" will be foreclosed by the November sweeps.
 
My prediction for first cancelled is - The Defenders, for 3 reasons. First, it's on against another legal drama on ABC (The Whole Truth), which has a more interesting cast, I think - Maura Tierney and Rob Morrow. The big winner in that slot (Wednesdays at 10:00) will probably be Law and Order: Los Angeles, which will bring in viewers that want to watch the tried-and-true formula show. Also, "LOLA" is the best acronym of the new season. ;D

Second reason - I think it's odd that they chose to recycle the title of a critically acclaimed show from the early and mid 1960s that took on serious social issues- to use as a Jim Belushi vehicle. ???

Third reason - Jim Belushi. He's used up a lifetime of good luck by managing to stay on the air through 6 seasons of According to Jim.
 
ABC's mocku-drama "My Generation." I already hate the show just from seeing the previews (which, I note with a bit of curiosity are not running as often as, say, 2 weeks ago) and I'm, for all intents and purposes, in their target audience.
 
This isn't going to be the first cancellation, but my feeling is that CBS' 21st-century remake of Hawaii Five-O will be this year's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Lots of hype and eyes on the show at first, but may not make it for a second season. This is despite what most have said about the show.
 
I actually hope that the new Hawaii Five-O doesn't succeed for completely different reasons. Knowing CBS, they will probably create spinoff series a la CSI, e.g. "Hawaii Five-2.0," or maybe "Alaska Four-9" (Lkeller, comment? ??? ).

I mentioned in the initial post that I saw an ad for another new show, slated for Wednesday nights on NBC. It's called "Undercovers." About a couple that fights crime, I think. Hopefully the content of the show will be a winner, but the title alone has all the makings of a dud.
 
I think that the new version of Hawaii Five-O will probably be the first series for the new season to be cancelled. The original is 1,000,000 times better. If not, Mike and Molly might be the one which gets cancelled first as it looks like a King Of Queens ripoff with a lookalike Kevin James yet.

I think that series was supposed to be only a Summer series, with six shows produced but only two aired.
 
Both "Hellcats" and "Nikita" on the CW. I don't see audiences sticking around after the first episode, but you can bet the CW will make one of them a priority before the season's through.

Same with Fox's "Lonestar." expect this one to be gone before Christmas.
 
I just read CBS's synopsis of The Defenders. Check out this BS:

Nick and Pete are "go-to" lawyers with an eclectic client list.

Nick is a "hard-charging" attorney.

Pete's (Belushi) "passion for the law is matched only by his love of fast cars, beautiful women and expensive clothes." Pete likes to "cruise the Strip for his latest romantic conquest."

Their new law partner is Lisa (translation: eye candy #1), who is "looking to put her days as an exotic dancer behind her."

Their young assistant Zoe (translation: eye candy #2) is a "spunky and sweet ingenue who is eager to please her bosses."

I know this is a rhetorical question, but who writes this crap? Could The Defenders possibly seem more shallow and cliche? I wonder if E.G. Marshall is spinning in his grave.

David "Bud Bundy" Faustino would be in his late '30s now, so it would be alittle hard for him to play the son in this show. The son in this series is being played by a 14 year Jimmy Bennett and judging by the last few photos I saw of David Faustino, I doubt he could pass as 14.

I agree. And why can't we seem to get the original Defenders on DVD? Seems like there is a good demand for it despite its age.

NBC used to have another show about aliens on Monday nights. It was called "ALF." Been there, done that...
 
Another nominee: CBS' new sitcom "Mike & Molly." If you look at the print ads for this series, you'd think it was a poor attempt at a revival of "The King Of Queens."
 
I don't know what the name of it is, but that NBC sitcom about the Indian call center scheduled for Thursday nights looks atrocious. It won't be cancelled first, but it'll never make it to season 2.
