Predict The First Cancellation Of The 2010-11 Season

I'm going to go with Mike & Molly. It seems like its going to be nothing but fat jokes. Of course with the way Two and a Half Men has gone more juvenile, they may play nicely together.

I think William Shatner will actually pull off (Bleep) My Dad Says. He's good at playing those type of characters. Unconvincing as a ship captain however.

As a consolation to the cast members of "Outsourced," once cancellation occurs, they should be given complimentary meals at Outback Steak House-or coupons for McDonald's newest creation.

I know-low blow, low blow

I saw the pilot for "Bleep My Dad Says" ... I love the Shat, but the pilot was just bad. Not Funny, .. The show needs a lot of work... I hope it's a hit...but it smells.. could be a miss for Capt. Kirk.

CBS is shuffling their schedule around. Survivor is moving to wednesdays, CSI NY are CSI Vegas are also moving to different nights. after all of the cancellations which will occur before christmas and after the older shows take a hit in the ratings due to the time slot changes, they will either move them back to the original time.
Moving a show is often a kiss of death. People have certain times that they watch tv as a habit. when their favorite show is not on its usual night, instead of trying to find it on its new night they just watch something else. resulting in shows getting canned as a result.

I believe one of the shows to be canceled will the "the event" because they will drag it out and wait forever to have "the big reveal" and string us along. I've seen it too many times before. people just grow weary of it and give up. Unless they have a well written show like "lost", most people don't have that much patience with long drawn out serials.

I think the fiercely loyal Lost audience and the mostly good writing (some episodes were obviously 'filler' for the season) is what kept the show on for six seasons. NBC might very well have a well-written serial in The Event, but it probably won't have that long of a shelf life, even as a hit--and for the purity of the show, maybe it shouldn't have a long TV life. Lost had an expiration date, and perhaps that's what a good serial should have.

Actually, the original CSI (Vegas) stays put; it's New York and Miami moving (to Fridays & Sundays, respectively). Kiss of death? Perhaps. It's not as if either was still a newer up and comer, but with still-decent audiences, using them to try to prop up some weaker slots makes sense (and not all show moves=death, popular as the misconception may be).

Among the new 2010-2011 entires, I'd wager on the My Generation. I just don't see this being the show that breaks ABC's doldrums in the Thursday lead-off slot, and they have a decent-enough slate of mid-season shows that could work with the rest of the night's schedule. Just a hunch...should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

That was a typo, I meant to say that CSI Miami was moving.

I've seen a couple of print ads for new series debuting this fall.

For example, ABC's new Tuesday night sitcom vehicle "No Ordinary Family," starring Michael Chiklis, probably capitalizing on the success of his "Fantastic Four" character. The premise of the series is a family with supernatural powers. The son on the show is a dead ringer for David "Bud Bundy" Faustino, and thought things were so hard for him, he had to revert to another child role. (I confirmed through iMDB that it's a different actor.) At any rate, many shows have gone through this well many a time, from "The Jetsons" to the old Donna Pescow series "Out Of This World," and I believe "No Ordinary Family" will be foreclosed by the November sweeps.
If The Cmmish and Bud Bundy (or at least his twin) are on it, I'm there. Looks interesting.

I just read CBS's synopsis of The Defenders. Check out this BS:

Nick and Pete are "go-to" lawyers with an eclectic client list.

Nick is a "hard-charging" attorney.

Pete's (Belushi) "passion for the law is matched only by his love of fast cars, beautiful women and expensive clothes." Pete likes to "cruise the Strip for his latest romantic conquest."

Their new law partner is Lisa (translation: eye candy #1), who is "looking to put her days as an exotic dancer behind her."

Their young assistant Zoe (translation: eye candy #2) is a "spunky and sweet ingenue who is eager to please her bosses."

I know this is a rhetorical question, but who writes this crap? Could The Defenders possibly seem more shallow and cliche? I wonder if E.G. Marshall is spinning in his grave.
Sounds like something I would watch, especially given the commercials I've seen. But I have too many other shows.

But Jim Belushi I just found hard to believe. I couldn't stand the idea of watching that show which hasn't been cancelled ... IT LIVES! It WILL come back, because no one but the cast and crew know about the secret tapings. HAHAHAHA!

I've liked both of Melissa McCarthy's series, so the concept sounds appealing. She's ready to go out on her own!

Shatner will succeed. I'll be there to see it, too.

I saw the promo for this show during the LSU-North Carolina game on Saturday night and I didn't think the kid playing his son looked ANYTHING like David "Bud Bundy" Faustino to me. I don't understand HOW ANYONE could mistake this 12 year old kid for a 37 year old Bud Bundy.

After watching the pilot episode of NBC's "Outlaw", starring Jimmy Smits, I think that could possiblely be the first casualty of the 2010-11 TV season. I tried watching last night but I had to turn it off about half way through the episode. I thought it was bland and just plain TERRIBLE. Based on last night's pilot episode, I don't see much of a future for Jimmy Smits' new show.

Washington Post columnist Lisa DeMoraes said something interesting as a guest on Tony Kornheiser's local radio show a few days ago : She seemed to think some of the broadcast networks' Friday night moves might be part of plans to 'take back' certain audiences lost to cable. She also had other thoughts about the new Fall TV season as well.

(Tuesday 9/14 show, starts about the 15:40 mark)

I'm tempted to vote for My Generation as well, even though there is a billboard on my way to work advertising the show.

Wouldn't be the first time one of the heavily marketed shows meets an early demise. But who knows, maybe it will work for them--that's the fun of guessing.
