QUOTE=channel99;6238491]The installation of a new master antenna on the "Candelabra" tower, followed by the replacement of the master antenna on be "CBS" tower and the temporary and permanent transmitter moves that will result will be a big part of changes in 2019.
WFXT, the last station that was still broadcasting from the Candelabra tower has already moved to the CBS tower using a side mount antenna and new transmitter. This will allow the new master to be installed at the top of the Candelabra tower. After that is done WFXT will move back to the Candelabra tower, and be joined there temporarily by WBZ, WCVB, WGBH, WGBX, and WSBK so that the master at the top of the CBS tower can be replaced. WBZ, WCVB, WGBX, and WSBK will then move back to the CBS tower, but WGBH will stay permanently on the Candelabra tower using its new real channel - ch 5. Also moving to the CBS tower are WNEU and WUTF, and (if approved) moving to the Candelabra tower is WUNI.
It will be interesting to see how bad the WGBH signal will be.
And both the Boston and Providence markets are still without several of the largest diginets - AntennaTV, Movies!, Decades, Charge!, and others. WSBK over-compresses H&I and Comet into blurs for no obvious reason - they aren't using the bandwidth for the main channel. That would have been an obvious place for Decades.
WHDH and WBTS have both submitted applications to move to their new channels early (WBTS to Providence, where it won't be NBCBoston). I think at least one other station applied for an early move too.[/QUOTE]
You always have great information, channel 99. In addition to your information, what I notice from rabbitears.com and other sites is that in the Providence area, there will be some changes:
WLNE, ch 6 (RF49) will be moving to RF24, and its Rehoboth transmitter will be at the top of the WJAR tower alongside with WJAR, getting an EPR power boost and elliptical non-directional antenna, so the signal should be easier to receive, particularly north of Boston. WJAR, ch 10 (RF50), moves to RF25, with an elliptical antenna and non-directional. WPRI, ch 12 (RF13) moves to RF7. WSBE, ch 36 (RF21) moves to RF2 and becomes non-directional (but their signal may get worse due to the low cRF). WNAC, ch 64 (RF12) stays the same. Also, I noticed WCRN-LP (RF25) has been granted a move to the Providence area (it was in the Worcester area) but has filed to silence its signal as of December 27, 2018.
As far as the missing diginets, I saw on Rabbitears.com that WLNE has a new diginet, Court TV, on its 6.4 subchannel, but it is not showing up on my TV's yet. And maybe WBTS-LP (and possibly WCRN-LP) could carry some of the diginets like Antenna TV or Decades.
