Predictions for the biggest song of the summer

"Call Me Maybe" will be huge this summer. Catchy refreshing sound that will appeal to most pop audiences, HAC, and AC. Perfect summer pop hit

I'd go with Wide Awake by Katy Perry

Call Me Maybe and Payphone will be huge, but I think they'll both be off the chart by the end of July

I love "Wide Awake" and "Call Me Maybe". I do not like "Payphone" and find Maroon 5 to be annoying. I wish they'd go away. I hope the big song this summer is one of those first two. :)

I'm going to go out on a limb (well two) and say the summer breakthrough artist and song will by Olly Murs "Heart Skips A Beat". Olly's song just got picked up on Z100, and with Olly touring with One Direction this summer, I think he may have a shot....

Anyone want to change their prediction?

"Call Me Maybe" just fell off the current chart but is still seeing over 6800 spins/week which would qualify it at about 12 or 13. I'm still going with it as the biggest hit for this past summer.

No. A song like "Wide Awake" may have been just a big a hit, but "Call Me Maybe" was a pop culture anthem, where as "Wide Awake" is just a midtempo ballad that happens to come from a megaartist.

These recurrent rules change every week, it seems. Eventually, every song will be moved to recurrent after 20 weeks, even if it's #1! Call Me Maybe did a total of 9 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100, sure it's not the same as CHR chart, but I'd use that as the tie break. Plus, Call Me Maybe has really become a pop culture anthem, especially at the college I work at.

Translation: "Call Me Maybe" is more rhythmic than "Wide Awake", so it must be the song of the summer, regardless of which song got more airplay ::)

How about David Guetta and Sira in "Titanium"?
