You said B101 has won by default all these years. Well if you mean they have beaten every one in or near their format the past 15 years then you are right. You did not mean that though did you Soon? lol!!! My friends at B101 tell me the money demo is 25-54 year old adults. They have ruled that and they told me that Magic 103, Star 104 , Kiss 100, Mix 95.7, 96.5 with Barsky, your beloved Sunny, Ben -FM, shall I go on -could not match B101 in that demo. You think a third rate signal like 97.5 will? They will be gone in a year! Hey Soon the latest installment of numbers came out... I think the latest week... B101 back to #1 or at # 2 in the 25-54 year old demo. Your Now 97.5 has fallen down. I will get specifics from my friends this weekend! YOU FAIL SOON YI !! They are not liner card readers. They are talented broadcasters with years of experience.. each and every one of them.

Go back to your so called great job and get your tainted nose out of here. You have it in for B101 plain and simple. You lost and your new station has lost. I said you listened to satellite radio... I meant your IPOD as you stated. Go back to your IPOD!! DISMISSED!!!!!!!!

You know, I was posting that sorta tongue-in-cheek because B101 had just done their alleged Top 101 Christmas songs countdown over and over all weekend. I thought that would be the real reason so many songs dropped out of their Top 100. But now it's Thursday and the songs still haven't come back. I guess B101 really is reacting to their shitty weeklies.

I'm wondering if there isn't a good logic to a narrowing of the playlist in the final days. I know the idea so often held as gospel is start small and build out. But gradually narrowing down to the biggest of the big to your listeners as Christmas day approaches to really "lock 'em in" so to speak is intriguing if that's how it played out. I did listen to good sized chunks of the top 101 over the weekend at various points driving all over the place, and I just have to say (also tongue in cheek)...seriously, B 101 listeners, no Bruce in the top 10? What's up with that? And Seeger's Little Drummer Boy at 101? Have you no taste?

This gets at something I've wondered about. The B has had a great deal of competition over the years, some of it more head-on, some more at the fringes. Calling them 'the only game in town' is to create an exceptionally narrow definition, perhaps to the point of playing games with semantics. Whether any of us likes or dislikes the format or their execution of it is one thing (and a source for great, spirited debate), but there have been others in the pool with them, and all have gone to defeat except Ben, which has found its own niche (to Greater Media's credit) without the B taking a big hit (to Jerry Lee's credit). What happens with Now starting in a week? I don't know. None of us do. But if what comes back is essentially what we had before Halloween, calling out the B for being a copycat is a bit silly, as Now was doing a spot-on imitation of the B down to the song tags and a slogan that added four words to the existing B slogan. I'm not trying to rag on Now; indeed, imitating competitors while claiming to be substantially different can be a viable business strategy (Burger King, anyone?), even if the difference in reality is minimal. Likewise, watching the marketplace and reacting to maintain your competitive position is good business strategy. You don't cede ground in a battle, you look to gain whatever advantage you can, whatever it takes. (Admittedly, describing a battle when talking about who's really taking the fresher approach to playing Celine Dion and Cher is a joke in itself.)

It's also possible we'll hear a different "Now" than the first version, which would be interesting in itself. I've got no dog in this fight, and would enjoy it just fine if it turns out there's room for both. I always liked having a hotter AC when we had them, though clearly that hasn't worked out since the initial days of Star. (I still hold on to a delusion that, if given the chance, Y-100 in the original version could have been a solid niche player, but we all have those kinds of unprovable theories, don't we?)

Doc, Doc, Doc. Firstly, I didn't finish reading that silliness. Could your agenda be any clearer? B101 finally lost a round. Get over it. Personal attacks against me aren't going to change anything. And your credibility only gets worse when you post garbage like that. Keep posting replies if you want but I'm done playing with you. You can feel like you "won" something if it makes you feel better. Pretty sad though, dude.

Only you know what you meant. I know what you said. Which is that you don't want to read people saying they don't like stations, and if they don't like stations they should turn them off. People saying they don't like one station or another is essentially the entire board.
