Production Stops on Confederate Flag-Topped ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ Merchandise

Looks like those Duke boys are becoming more socially aware.

Warner Bros. has halted production on replicas and models of popular “Dukes of Hazzard” car, the General Lee, which has a confederate flag on its roof. The company stated that it will cease the licensing of the consumer product category altogether.

“Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the confederate flag on its roof — as it was seen in the TV series,” a WB spokesperson told TheWrap. “We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories.”

Other companies including Walmart, eBay, Amazon and Sears have recently announced that they will stop selling confederate flag merchandise. The recent retail push to remove the controversial flag stems from last week’s apparently racially motivated mass-murder shooting spree at a South Carolina church.
