A very interesting, and detailed report that discusses the decline of listeners to public radio and what impact, if any, satellite radio is having on audience loss to NPR affiliates in Buffalo and Rochester.

I can personally say that since I bought my Sirius radio about a month ago, my listenership of all terrestrial radio has declined greatly. And this can be translated into a loss of listenership for public radio stations WRVO and WAER (I'm in Syracuse). Before Sirius, my radio dial was always tuned to WAER. I now listen to WAER for about ten minutes when I get up, and WRVO for fifteen minutes when I am in the shower, Monday through Friday. That's it. All other car and home listening and online work listening is to Sirius. I got together with friends on Friday and Saturday nights, and we listened to Sirius together for several hours. By the end of the evenings, they were also convinced of the superiority of commercial-free, highly-specific formats to those offered on terrestrial radio.
