Pugs challenged Russ Martin to a Cage Fight on 1360

All these threads are a waste of time. "Russ won't be back", "Yes, he will", "Pugs is a p----", "Pugs is the MAN". Who cares. If Russ comes back, he comes back. If he doesn't, he doesn't. The fact is, everybody is wasting time and effort on a guy, who isn't even on air, that they can't stand. Anybody that is a fan of his, and yes, that includes me, is either a friend of Russ or is Russ himself. I can assure you, i'm neither. I'm just a guy who listened to his show from 2000-2008. I hope he comes back on air, but, i'm not going to take a header off an overpass if he doesn't. What I do find funny, is that people who don't know Pugs or Kelly or BDH dislike Russ so much because he slammed them, but, they don't know Russ either and are slamming him. If you don't like a show, change the station and groove to whatever floats your boat. Stop trying to ram your opinion down the throat of everybody else. Nobody cares what you think, why do you care what everybody else thinks?

Well said. It's time to put this to a rest.

Ok, I've got to address this ridiculous argument. Russ was a big name in DFW radio the last few years. His absence from the airwaves, temporary or not, does not negate that fact nor the value of examining the events that led to his personal and professional rise and fall. Just as Ron Chapman is still a valid topic here so is Russ Martin's career arc.

What an absolutely juvenile generalization, as well as a case of "pot calling the kettle." It is possible to dislike Russ based solely on Russ' character and show style. Next time try "You're all just jealous!"

Then what is the purpose of these boards? I enjoy reading the opinions, debates, and even the wars to be found in this forum. If you don't care about the opinions of the posters here, both the professionals and the hobbyists, then don't waste your time here. You're obviously way to smart for the room.

There's a difference between discussing/debating the mans' career arc or the lack of him on air, and slamming the person or those who listen to him. If the argument doesn't apply to you, then why do you take offense to it. Maybe you all ARE "just jealous"...Either way. Stick to the man and his show. You know, "radio stuff". And yes, that includes him hitting his girlfriend, if that's the way it played out. But, to talk about people who are fans of his show as if they are lesser lifeforms, and I have seen it on here, that's crossing the line. That's not discussing him being off the air, or him being an alleged "woman beater", or whatever. That's personal attacks and no better than what people are criticizing Russ for.

What I think is the funnist part of ol russ he may have been fired a year ago but hes still getting that 7 figure salary. P&K have been demoted to the AM frequency and Russ is still raking in the dough that has to hurt huh pugs!

If Russ actually showed up Pugs would run like the BITCH he is. Secondly call a guy out to fight who is on probation and cant do anything or face breaking his probabtion. Hey pugs why dont you challenge a kid in a wheel chair next.

LOL.

Do you think Russ' terms of probation including not participating in legal and sanctioned fights? I would suspect that is not a common part of any probation arrangement.

Why on earth do you think an arranged and legal fight would be a violation of his probation?

no contest
n. in criminal law, a defendant's plea in court that he/she will not contest the charge of a particular crime, also called nolo contendere. While technically not an admission of guilt for commission of the crime, the judge will treat a plea of "no contest" as such an admission and proceed to find the defendant guilty as charged. A "no contest" plea is often made in cases in which there is also a possible lawsuit for damages by a person injured by the criminal conduct (such as reckless driving, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault), because it cannot be used in the civil lawsuit as an admission of fault. "No contest" is also used where there has been a "plea bargain" in which the defendant does not want to say he/she is guilty but accepts the sentence recommended by the prosecutor in exchange for not contesting the charge (which is often reduced to a lesser crime). It is standard practice for the judge to ask either the attorneys or the defendant, "Is there a factual basis for the plea?" before accepting it and finding the defendant guilty.

Do any of you wannabes read the news? You seem to think Richie Whitt is the gospel, so go read his column from October of last year where Russ turned down the plea deal they offered, which would have made him plea guilty. Or I guess that would cause you guys to do research and actually make informed comments. My bad.

Why do we have to read the news when we actually know what nolo contendre means? The people who explained it are 100% correct. For all intents and purposes it is a guilty verdict without the albatross connected. It is used to broker deals because our legal system is so overloaded it allows people to save some face, even when they are guilty. Nobody here quoted Ritchie Witt. Which makes me wonder where you got your information from... Just because he refused an earlier deal does not change any of this. He ultimately accepted a deal with a no contest plea, which does NOT make him innocent.

I fail to see anyone slamming listeners here. What I see, is one individual poster losing a debate and taking the insult-the-poster approach.

One thing I will credit RM. If he claps his hands his fans will do his bidding,no matter how ridiculous it may be. If he states I can not speak out, due to: (choose one) reprecusions, bad press, still under contract, terms of the court, then subtly asks his fans to defend him and they do,as evidence here. The subject has gone well past the court stuff, his layoff/fired/cut. The rumors will float under his guidance. and his monetary funds will dry up somewhat after 2011 when the CBS cash faucet is turned off. In the cheap guidance of corporate radio whose companies start with a "C" <choose one> he will never see the likes of what he had ever again. He may pop up in a commercial perhaps once the contract runs his course ,put as far as a show..highly unlikely ,though diehards will argue until paramedics bring oxygen to them, that he will return. its time to put the RM subject to bed, until he does something ,or something of SIGNIFICANCE other than a statement or rumor by him or fans happens.

It's been in other threads dealing with Russ. "Well, that tells you what kind of people his fans are." Deal with Russ, not demean his fans. His fans, again, myself included, are just that. Fans. Have been from the start and will be to the end. I hope he comes back, but, if not, then I have the old shows to listen to and enjoy.

does noone remember pugs going into russ' studio while they were on the air, going after jd? all russ said, afterwords, was that 'i think i could take 'em', he is a little baby boy and his 'staff' proves that. he is a puss, his crew were scared little men, laughing to keep a job. that entire show was 'the joke'
insert unearned laughter here.

This is getting old... Look, I am not trying to demean anyone. My comments about Russ AND his listeners are totally unbiased, and have been from day one. My comments are centered on the "business" aspects, and are based solely on my Business Major degree. If this doesn't convince you that I am not demeaning anyone, then nothing will. But if you insist on continuing, then e-mail me offline at [email protected].

I have been following this thread for a while. I can't get past the title of the thread. Is anyone frightened by a man who calls himself Pugs?

In reality, does anyone NORMAL with an Iq above a coffee table care about Pugs and Kelly, or RM?...Thought so. Put this thread to bed. Time to move on.
