How much would it cost to buy 87.7?
If I had the capital, I would buy WNYZ and hire the same staff from Mega Media.
Nick,
I like you, I really do. But I feel this need to bring you "down to earth" here because I see a lot of what you post and just knowing what I do know, it's a lot more complicated than just saying having the capital to buy 87.7.
Personally, if I had the capital, I would
NEVER buy 87.7 as a frequency. Some car stereos can't tune into it, the signal (which is FCC regulated and has nothing to do with Mega Media) is not strong and even if Pulse did expand to other markets as was planned, each market works on its own local scale. But to DeeJay, I have to point out....they DID land SoBe as an account in the very beginnings of the format.
Money spent on the Star & Buc Wild show? Let's stand corrected here. I would think, and this is just a hypothesis mind you, that landing Star & Buc Wild was on the "cheap". And to that, the Buc Wild portion wasn't even there....so it would be Star, White Trash Helene, DX21, Yonny and Pablo ...so in that sense, it was cheaper.
Nick, for your sake and I am telling you this as a friend, get off the Mega Media "bandwagon". I know you have invested in this. I
ALMOST did but based on a couple of advisements, I didn't. It's not that I didn't believe in the dance format; far from it. It is simply a matter of finances and management and the stark reality is, Mega Media was going through issues even BEFORE the launch of Pulse. If Pulse did anything, it served as a "pail" that bailed out the water from the sinking ship. But the ship is still
SINKING!
I am in TOTAL agreement with TheTruth that the dance music format is NOT the problem. Gets back to the "pail" example. It's just mismanagement, plain and simple. The only thing I can say WHEN the final dance track gets played on Pulse (not if), is that we (the coalition) would go back to square one to see what we can do to land another terrestrial station. However, one cannot deny the impact of streaming stations on the Internet so if we NEVER get another current based dance station again, it's not a major loss. I have my Internet streaming favorites. Once we have streaming car stereos as standard in autos...there you go!
