Congratulations to Eutopia for joining the Pulse 87 staff!
Right now the revenue Pulse 87 is generating is coming mostly from VIPs who pay $5 a month or $50 a year. Assuming just 50 VIPs, that's about $2500 a year. There's a little additional revenue coming from club appearances and website advertising. Let's assume the total revenue is $3000 a year. That would probably not cover their streaming costs.
But considering how people love this station and the fact that they got thousands of donations last year when they begged for money on the air, I think the online version could turn a profit just from VIPs who subscribe just to support the station. As you may have thought, I was the very first person to fork over $50 the first day they announced the VIP subscriptions.
As for Original Hot 97, Joel's other online station, the stream is literally static, and the songs listed as "new" music on the home page are 3 years old.
