I guess you can still call them an oldies station, but I've been hearing some recent songs from the 90s and even this decade on Q105.1. I noticed this about a month or so ago when they were playing "Rhythm of My Heart" by Rod Stewart and Jimmy Cliff's remake of the old Johnny Nash hit "I Can See Clearly Now". Later on, I heard Aerosmith's 1998 hit "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" and Santana's "Smooth" from 1999. In recent days, I heard them play Michael McDonald's remake of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and, just today, Uncle Kracker's remake of "Drift Away", both which came out earlier this decade.
I do know that oldies music would have to evolve by player more recent music. Since those aforementioned songs and artists are familiar favorites to their target audience, I get the reason why they would get airplay. But is the music too soon to be played on an oldies station? Personally, I have no problem with it. They almost sound like Jack, except they're not as all over the map as Jack (though I'm sure Q has a large pool of songs to pick from that could put them all over the map as well).
