Question for you Sports Radio Guys

Well lifeguard, I am NOT Isaac.

You call Ben and Tony hacks. These guys are so much better than your boy JT it is not even close.

Here is what I call a hack:

When a caller disagrees with him he is going to call him every hour at all hours of the night because he has their phone number.

When a caller says the Houston Texans have a chance of beating the Cowboys in their first game and he calls him an idiot. Texans WIN

When a caller says Stanford will lose to Washington in basketball a few years ago and actually calls the guy a stupid idiot on the air. Washington WINS.

He says that Pete Rose (a lying cheating thug) and Jim Brown (a wife beating thug) are his best friends, you tell me, who is the hack?
 
My whole thing with JT is the scripted callers. I have the same problem with Jim Rome's "Smack off", not that I want to har someone who doesn't have a point or know what they want to talk about but hwen you hear a guy reading from an obvious script he's written it makes me change the station.
I may be in the minority but it's a turn off for me because if I'm going to call a sports talk station i'm already going to know what I want to say but don't need a script or crib notes.
As for Looney, he's good as an update announcer when he can write something to recite but when he's forced to adlib or just be a host responding to callers then his failings show and that's not a bad thing it just means his strong suit is "announcing" as opposed to "hosting".
I do also think that JT does toot his own horn a bit much and can say with all confidence that there's nobody in this world that loves JT more than JT, which again is fine because ego is rampant in this business but you have to know when it's too much just like name dropping.
I would also prefer that unless someone makes a truly outlandish statement rather than calling them an idiot he disproves their statement with FACTS again him being the professional that's what I would expect and like to hear a host actually do - be professional and notj ust some fan in a bar who may or may not know more than you do.

I think perhaps some of you are taking JT a bit too seriously. I personally like JT because I find him entertaining; sports guys that simply read scores and comment on how a team 'needs to score' as a strategy to winning are just plain boring to me. Sure, JT may be over the top sometimes, but that's OK- I'm just interested in being entertained.

Oakas- you're entitled to your opinion and I'm not going to try to make an argument as to why you should change your opinion. I only wonder why you have been on this thread for three years bashing him ad nauseum; you say how much you dislike him yet you keep tuning in to his show. There are guys on sports radio that I don't like, but I just don't ever tune in to those shows. If you don't like him, just listen to something else.

Well EastBay, I do not tune into his show. Why would you say that I listen to this hack. All I am saying is there are much better guys on the radio than this no talent ******. If you think JT and Looney are good radio, you must not get out much.
If this turd was so good, why was he delegated to very late night and Tony Bruno has the prime late night show.
 
Just because I like JT, it means I don't get out much? Actually, I am always out- and I listen to all kinds of radio as well. So as I said, if you don't like JT, don't listen to him; there's plenty of other options. Why are you so bitter and angry at him- it's just a radio show, dude! Did you perhaps call his show one time and get hung up on? You seem to spend a lot of time and emotion on criticizing a show you say you don't listen to.
 
Had a bad tooth ache last night at 4:15 in the morning so I turned on the radio and lo and behold JT and Looney were on the radio.

I thought I would give them a listen and they were so bad that I can not believe it.

How these two turds have a show is quite unbelievable. Just terrible radio. I must be missing something here.

Thank god they have the graveyard shift.
 
Easy fix for this problem...FSR should just hire Arnie Spanier. His show is fun to listen to and entertaining. I listen him on CBS Radio App. He's still the best with callers.

Always posting negatives about JT. If you don't like it then don't listen. If you want someone else on your local station, then contact them.

I personally flip around since I have 4 different stations in the Miami market,

Amen. Never understood the constant berating of someone if you're going to continue to listen? Makes very little sense.
