Question on Country Legends 92.1 and other far away signals

So last Memorial Day weekend I was out on Eagle Mountain Lake with friends on a boat and jetskis and was scanning the dial with a radio shack portable radio. All the Cedar Hills came in plus 95.9 the Ranch and Country Legends 92.1. My question is since I was in the middle of the lake, did it enhance 92.1's signal just enough to be able to hear it? I normally never can while I get the ranch frequently.

Eagle Mt. Lake is within reasonable listening range. Probably more related to whats between you and the transmitter site. I sometimes listen to KTFW all the way to DFW airport. I even picked it up at love field once (no it wasn't the Farmersville station, I waited for an ID). I live in Arlington and it comes in just fine where I am (when KSKY isn't monkeying with my listening pleasure). Unfortunately, KTFW is a shell of its former self.

KTFW was far and away my favorite station in DFW for the last few years. I liked KHYI 95.3, too. However, I can only stand so much "Texas Music". I really don't need to hear any new songs about Lone Star/Shiner beer or the Texas Hill Country by 25 year olds trying to prove how "Texas" they are.

KTFW has recently switched from a "classic country/honky tonk" format to a "middle-aged suburban lady/I listened to KSCS/KPLX in the late 80's-early 90's" format. If you like Pam Tillis/Anne Murray/Exile, then it's the station for you. The only real vestige of the old KTFW is the one classic song they play per hour and Joe Bolinski on the weekends. Try 1460 AM out of Cleburne for more "old country".

Must have stereo and higher sound quality, don't much like listening to music on AM.

But, 1460 is the real classic country stuff, as is KBEC 1390.

I've only been listening to KTFW recently. Not sure what they used to sound like. What they're doing now is kind of a mixture of songs that were on KPLX & KVIL in the 80's & 90's. Both of which I listened to then. It's fun to hear these songs again. But it may not be what their longtime listeners have come to expect.

KCLE is now saying they're also on 93.1 in the Cleburne area. Looking at Radio-Locator it seems they're using a new translator located in Cleburne. So they put the CLE back in KCLE ;D

I switch to 1460 every day at 1:00 when KAAM goes to whatever they do that's not music. I don't know what they're thinking but that's another topic.

Just curious, if an AM station has an FM translator, can the translator be in stereo?

I like the farmersville station when it had an oldies format. The music selection beat KLUV's at the time.

Finally someone else That liked the Old KXEZ. It was a pretty cool station.
Excellent Alternative to KLUV.

It was hard to pick up, but the music was good when I could hear it.

As Far as I know It was always Good Time Oldies via Jones.
Not sure if it was ever ABC, but it could have been back in the EZ 92 days.
Then they switched to Dial Global's Classic Country Format in 07 i think.

oddly enough their Oldies site is still up. all links work but the home.
