Just a few weeks ago I had occasion to meet Ron Quarles when I stopped in to survey WNPT for our RDS installation. It was somewhat of a cold-call, but Mr. Quarles couldn't have been nicer in giving me a big chunk of his time right in the middle of election-season madness. We poked around the station's equipment, found out we knew some folks in common, and swapped a pile of radio tales.
Yesterday I was passing through town and decided to stop by and say hello. Imagine my surprise when the receptionist had to tell me "Mr. Quarles died".
Oh.

I only met him once, but I am a better person for having done so.
