R.I.P. to what was the best promotions department in town

I just talked to my friend who is one of the higher ups at CBS. They told me that there was a meeting of all promotions people this week. Beginning immediately they will all work for the cluster and not just one station. Those Wild part timers are sure going to look great working WQYK events! I bet the trend continues and the QYK promotions staff ends up doing more and the rest of the stations people get pushed out slowly. The Wild promotions team used to be the best in town. Over the last few years they have really gone down hill. Now they are probably done unless they want to learn how to say yeeeeeeee hawwwwwww. Q105 is already limping along and will probably be a slightly different format after the holiday. And with no air staff Smooth Jazz isn't going to be doing remotes anyway.

Any guesses on when and where the next major axe will fall?

get used to it - more with less. didn't clear channel have that saying??

I believe it's "Less is More" not "More with Less".
Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do until the economy gets better.
It's not like Clear Channel, Cox or CBS are the bad guys.

It's happening everywhere.

"It's happening everywhere."

That is a what makes this round of cuts different. In year's past it was just radio cutting back. Now, it is everything cutting back. In pretty much every industry there are probably talks going on message boards about budget cuts. It is a very sad time for people in general right now.

The CBS promo department, has and always will school the rest of the stations on how to move, swiftly and effectively around the market. WiLD does a lot of things well, (thanks to Drew Fleming and his team). Our additional crew, from our equally agressive promo squad, at QYK, goes without saying. C'mon, you've seen QYK and F-U-Skip, out at events together. Notice the difference? Don't let your hate for the team you can't make it on, cloud your reality. However your right to be a lil scared. Fear should be healthy. Go with that. May spark some thought.

Pepper is still gainfully employed. Now how many of YOU can say that? Work on your t&r packages, instead of being net heads. Probably how your stations failed or your careers died by living in the fake world of chat rooms....

Orlando (notice how those with jobs, talent AND balls), sign their names?

Learn from those that do SO well, instead of those that perform like "Oh Well"!

Orlando,

Good to see someone in your position that is not afraid to visit boards like this and post his name. Was my information wrong about CBS promotions people now working for all stations in the building instead of just one? If so, please correct me. My sources are really good usually.
