Race to be all Christmas all the time in Central Iowa

Last year, it was the Sunday before Thanksgiving that 100.3 jumped onto the Christmas music bandwagon with their first ever all Christmas all the time format, quickly followed by Lite 104's flip. Will the swich happen even sooner this year?

Check out the AC message board and many are bracing for several stations across the country to flip as soon as tomorrow, November 1. In fact KUDL and Star 102 in KC both have a countdown to Christmas clock on their websites (54 days and 13 hours).

According to northpine.com, Cedar Rapids wins the race to be all Christmas all the time as KDAT and WMT-FM made the switch.

is it annoying to be playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving? Yes, but everyone here can understand why as Christmas music boosts the ratings and advertising revenue for a station.

Yea but come on.

Everyone I have talked to, even the people that actually enjoy the all X-mas music think this is excessive.

Next year...June?

Ya know...
this is whats always baffled me about radio. Nearly everyone you talk to says they do or don't like something, and you'd think it would translate into the general public sooner or later, but ratings and advertiser habits never seem to follow.

It kind of does make you think that there are just a small handful who run the world!!!!! :)
