World's worst kept secret, really. This had been rumored to go down for a while, and Rachel's work on Countdown and Race to the White House made it easy for network honchos to okay her new show.

Maddow deserves more credit for rising from a bit player to a big player on Air America's radio lineup. She's easily AAR's best 'home grown' talent (Thom Hartmann and former AAR host Randi Rhodes had established themselves prior to joining).

Maddow is good. Really good. Perhaps she'll reunite with former radio sidekick Kent Jones on the TV side. I'll be DVRing her show nightly.

Does anyone else think that Dan Abrams looks like Burt Ward (Robin from the Batman TV series)? Maybe it is because of the comic book graphics, but I always expect to hear "Holy Breaking News".

Seriously, He does a good job, I hope they keep him on staff, or just move the show to another time slot.

"Verdict" was an okay show, comic book graphics and all...

according to the NYT link, he'll be subbing at the Today show...maybe he'll go back to running MSNBC like he was pre-"Verdict"

Agreed...Abrams is getting a raw deal on this one - SMART attorney, GOOD anchor/reporter - let's hope SOMEBODY grabs this talent VERY QUICKLY and gives him his OWN show once more...

Is Dan Abrams still MSNBC News Director? If he is, then I doubt he was forced off or got a raw deal.

It's possible he chose to get off the air for a while and focus on things behind-the-scenes, operations, preparations for November 4th, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see him come back with his own show right before the elections.

Keep in mind, MSNBC currently schedules "Race for the White House" weekdays at 6 PM ET (pre-empted the last two weeks due to Olympics coverage) - a program whose title will clearly be up in the air once Election Day comes and goes. Will the program be transformed into a new vehicle with host David Gregory? Or will Abrams be riding shotgun? Hmmmm...

I heard him on the Tuesday or Wednesday night show saying he's say more about his future on Thursday night's show. He said he had received a lot of viewer email questions.

I, however, was in a hotel that unfortunately didn't carry MSNBC and the network doesn't have live streaming online, so was unable to see it.

Rachael is an interesting distaff version of Keith Olbermann. But whereas Keith will tear his subject apart with a blistering verbal attack Rachael does it much more subtlety. When she guests on Countdown I find it interesting that she delivers virtually the same message as Keith but with a softer sword as it were. I'm looking forward to her show as well.

Yeah. Like to where LOCKUP & MSNBC Investigates usually are now would be nice.

Watching all those shows of people in prison is depressing (Like society should somehow feel sorry for those SICK SCUMBAGS??? ).

I just went to the section on MSNBC's website where they house transcripts of previous shows, and the "Verdict" section is already gone! Not even up during the Convention period! Hmmm...
