Radio America Talk Show Host Calls for Murder of Anti-War Activist On Air

Re: Clear Channel KFI Talk Show Host Calls for Murder of Anti-War Activist On Air

Michael Reagan, radio talk show host and son of late president Ronald Reagan, could be investigated by the FBI after he called for the execution of Mark Dice, anti-war activist and founder of media watchdog group The Resistance, on the air.

Only one problem... KFI does not carry the Michael Reagan show.

After this incident, I don't think that any self-respecting radio station anywhere should carry the Michael Reagan Show.

...but two Wrights *did* make an airplane ;D ...

...ya gotta wonder what Emperor Bob Hudson would make of the business today, y'know?...

Nobody here actually heard what was said and you are all parroting what was erroneously reported elsewhere. The remark was tongue in cheek and what he said was that the person in question should be shot and that he (Michael Reagan) would buy the bullet. At no point was any advocacy of murder stated. Talk show hosts get press and ratings by being provocative. If you all want to come down on asinine talk show hosts who make outlandish remarks on air then try Michael Savage, or even John and Ken. There is plenty of fodder for kneejerk reactions there.

Seven posts not including this one and David Eduardo's post and the 7th was the only one worth reading!! (Savage is unlistenable these days and not just because he's gone from the AM 830 lineup...J & K are just so sophomoric)

...remember, advertisers, you too can reach this prime demographic...

Which is worse, this comment about buying the bullet or Imus's "nappy headed" remark. When you hire people to flap their gums in front of a microphone, sometimes what is said comes out wrong and in poor taste. Do you fire them or accept the risk. I hate cries to fire them or fine them, they did it to Howard Stern and he jumped to satellite. I for one, being the cheapskate I am, prefer my radio free and over the air. Until they pry the knobs and buttons off my radio I can control what comes out of it just fine.

And for your information, talk radio is a prime demographic and since for whatever reason conservative hosts tend to be more entertaining they dominate. Until progressives develop a herd of Stephanie Millers or at least Ed Schultzes that is the way it will be. I try to hear and read all sides of any issue so I can listen to anyone who is entertaining and has information. I can not abide pompous aggravating bloviaters which knocks Savage and Limbaugh out of my listening habits.

Mr Reagan, by the way, has apologized for his remark.

I heard the remark. The recording of his words are up on the web for all to hear. After making the statement, he of course said he was kidding, then said he was serious again. I would hope that the FBI usually takes these kinds of things seriously. Much like yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre. That was a threat, made in public, against a private citizen. There should not be a double standard.

If Mr. Reagan can't take the heat for his own statements, he should get out of the kitchen. And yes, Bob Hudson would have plenty to say about today's "talk radio environment".

...come to think of it, perhaps Hudson said everything that needed to be said about third-tier Reich-wing talk when he made the record that KRLA fired him over back in '66, "I'm Normal" ;-) ...

Maybe Mark Dice is the one who can't "take the heat". If you are going to make statements such as he has and further send propaganda material to our troops serving in Iraq and elsewhere then you had better be ready to expect some kind of backlash. What Reagan said on the air is in no way equivalent to yelling "fire" in a crowded theater. No one was put into a panic over what he said on his radio show, and conversely no one was immediately placed in peril by Mr. Dice and his fellow protesters.

I relistened to the remarks which were aired and while they could be viewed, by some, as mildly inappropriate they would in no way justify an FBI investigation. The fact that one has been called for doesn't mean one will actually be forthcoming. There was no call for murder, just an opinion that the people behind the materials being sent to our troops be shot, AS TRAITORS, and that he (Michael Reagan) would buy the bullet. Now I would think that anyone who has had a family member or friend in the war might share those views, especially those who have lost loved ones. Mr. Dice and his compatriots certainly have a free speech right to their theories about 9-11 but I have a bigger problem with their having mailed propaganda to the troops than what a radio host had to say, but I defend both parties right to opine as they will. I would hope that the late Mr. Hudson would share my views, those who actually knew him personally might be able to answer that question.

this is a typical conservative talk show publicity stunt--why are you even posting this on here? What has this got to do with the radio industry in LA?
