Radio Enciclopedia in Cuba on 530 kHz in the daytime

^ Enciclo played Kampfaert's "That Happy Feeling" just the other day.....if the lady announces the title/artist, she always announces the title translated-into-Espanol, and she did in this case.

From Northeastern North Carolina. As I've menitoned before, I occasionally get daytime signal enhancement around solar noon on my car radio in the parking lot at work. A couple of weeks ago, March 4th, was one of those occasions. Radio Encliclopedia had a good signal that day. I also heard them one day last winter in mid day on the car radio.

Clear copy right now in Fort Myers on the car radio with faint Spanish talk underneath from what may be Rebelde.

Interesting....I thought that Ft Myers had a TIS on 530 very recently....maybe Enciclo made them move or go off air entirely Thanx for the info

) Enciclo can rock-out at times. Format is instrumentals, but I actually heard an all-instrumental version of "Life in the Fast Lane" about a year ago, just like the Eagles' arrangement, without the vocals. I wonder if they have "Frankenstein" in the library....

They definitely go uptempo in the mornings. Then I believe they gradually tone it down during the day. By night it's elevator time.

Per other comments in this thread, R. Super FM from Brasilia, Brazil is another that runs a beautiful music format. And a very good one at that. You'd almost think it's being programmed by Jim Schulke! They also have a couple of classical music programs. I don't have the address for the stream, but you can find it on Tunein.

I like that format. I wish we had it here in the USA. With so many stations on the air, all we get is 1,000 varieties of autotuned CHR. It's like "water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink". So tired of that!

I'm not crazy about elevator music but at least it's a lot better than rap. ::)

What Radio Enciclopedia plays is kind of nostalgic for me because it reminds me of the station my mom always had on when I was little in the late 60s/early 70s.

It was an FM station that played what's now called elevator music.

I think that's what makes Enciclopedia such a treat for many---it reminds them of their younger years.

I even remember, only a few years back, when they were on 1260, I'd try to make a tape of it from the lower Keys. I couldn't do that from home because of WSUA 1260 Miami.

So, imagine how I felt when it moved to wide open 530..... :)

By the way whatever happened to that NDB down in Kentucky or Tennessee that used to bother them? Have not heard that lately, with the result that the station is weak but listenable most nights north of Chicago!

I believe the owner (who also owns shortwave WWRB) flips that beacon (LYQ) on and off at will.
