Here's the item from Tom Taylor today:
Too bad – Radio One swears off quarterly conference calls.
It’s not that Alfred Liggins is worn down by playing the role of a masochist constantly reporting bad news. (This time, the news wasn’t as bad as everybody feared.) But Liggins says “we need to focus our energies on the operation of this company” in a year that reminds him of his mother Cathy Hughes’ favorite saying. Which goes something like “It’s not enough to do your best. You have to do what’s needed.” ... But the company won’t be as visible to the press (like T-R-I), and through the press, to the public at large (you). So we won’t get the valuable details of Radio division chief Barry Mayo explaining that Radio One stations out-performed their peers in Atlanta by 5.1% and in Baltimore by 13% and in Philadelphia by 19%. Or that even with the out-performance, Atlanta was down 20% and Houston was down 3.5%. That’s too bad.
