Flip this station to gospel as "Praise 94.5" for goodness sakes!!!

Send Michael Baisden over to KRNB with Steve Harvey. As far as Tom Joyner, he's been on 100.3, 105.7, and now 94.5. He hasn't touched a nerve yet. That should tell you something there.
Edited by JamzUSA on 03/03/06 01:39 AM.

Oh HELL NO!!!

How about an African-American version of "Jack"?

Aretha Franklin, followed by Dem Franchise Boyz, Al Jarreau, Sean Paul, Lionel Richie, D4L, Morris Day, 50 Cent, Sam Cooke and Tone-Loc.

Why dont we call it "94.5 LaSheNaRonDawnTay FM" while were at it as well?

...ok, that was completely uncalled for, but admit it, it was pretty damn funny :D

Seriously, an real urban "Jack" clone(R&B/Funk/Soul with no rap) and a true alternative(College Rock/Alt/Sirius "Left Of Center") station are about the only two formats lacking in the market. I like the alt format alot more for the simple reason this market is already "swimming" with "urban" formats. I think a true alternative format(101x,pre emmis) could survive not only because this area is brimming with both a young populationm and we also have three 4-year schools of higher learning (SMU/TCU/UNT) within an hours drive of D/FW. This is a sorely underutilized market that any smart station manager would know how to tap into. KDGE, IMHO, lost its way after the mormons sold them off years ago.

I guess you have failed to look at the population breakdown of the metroplex. Gospel is on a whole different level than hip hop, so I really don't consider it urban.

And flip sister KROI in Houston to the same thing while you're at it.

I do agree that gospel does aim for a totally different audience that your typical urban station, but nevertheless, this market has about reached the oversaturation point when it comes to urban/latin formats. I think anything besides those two formats would be a welcomed changed, be it gospel, alternative, dance, blues, jazz or even tibetan chants. I stll believe that the frequency needs to have an alt. station, not ranchera or rap.

Brilliant! All we need is another Jesus Freak station. While
we're at it, let's put another Hispanic station on the air.

I see you don't go to church. And I thought I was a devil....

And I agree. We have KLTY, and I never hear anything about that. So why is there such an issue when it comes to a gospel fm? The reason for the criticizm of rap is the negativity. Now I mention a positive format, and I still get negative feedback. But I love it! I love to ruffle your little twisted feathers..

I have no issue with gospel, in fact, I think we need it more than ever in these trying times. From a business standpoint, unfortunately, it doesnt make really good fiscal sense. Advertisers already underserve the afro-american community when it comes to ad dollars spent on stations, just listen to K-104 for a great example on that. I totally agree the spending habits of upper middle class african americans more than likely does matches those of anglos, hispanics and asians, its convincing advertisers of that. Personally, id rather hear spots for John Roberts BMW and Del Frisco on K-104(or the beat,105.7, or k-soul) than for a Tote-A-Note lot or BBQ joint.
