Radio One - Still selling ALL of it's Class A FM's?

Is Radio One still selling all of it's Class A FM's? 103.9 WPPZ covers the entire market, very well, somehow. Is it still for sale? Could CBS purchase 103.9 for a KYW simulcast? Could Beasley purchase it for another format? Like it's Dance CHR on RDW-HD2?

I read this on the Radio-Info site in December.

103.9, not 107.9

107.9 (PHI) is a Class A that only goes inside the city, and in the areas further from the transmitter, it follows MMR's (93.3) weak and strong points (like West Chester and Vineland to name two).

PPZ (103.9) covers the city and the PA/DE suburbs. I can actually get PPZ in Wilmington.

I'm not certain how well 103.9 comes in in the Camden, Vineland and Trenton areas. I do know, 101.7 from Vineland/Wilmington, seems to not cover any of the Philly area except for southern Chester and Delaware counties. So I'd imagine PPZ doesn't do so well in NJ, as JKS (101.7) doesn't do so well in the city at all.

Also, JKS isn't a Radio One station, it's a "Q Communications" station. Plus, R1 doesn't operate Rythmnetic CHR's.

(Also, I only label it so much in case any out-of-market people view the thread.
I'm just trying to find out what's going on with Radio One, they've been losing a lot of money and they even started selling some stations.

Radio One is selling its stations in Charlotte NC to Davis Broadcasting Urban AC WQNC and Urban Gospel WPZS.

Radio One just did a LMA with WGPR 107.5 in Detroit last summer and moved its Mainstream Urban format to that freq.

Radio One does have Rhythmic stations in its profilo KBFB Dallas, WCKX Richmond, and WHHH Indianpolis. WHHL in St. Louis was Rhythmic leaning but after CC KATZ went off the air it moved more into a Mainstream Urban. Thats funny when you said Radio One doesnt do Rhythmic formats because when WPHI moved to 107.9 they were playing Pitbull, Adele, and Katy Perry even after the stunning ended and rebranded "Hot" just like WHTA in Atlanta.

Radio One hired a bunch of clueless employees and forcing programming on stations that dont fit their markets. First Los Angeles and then Boston. They ruined 2 heritaged stations and leaving a major void in both markets. They paid $300 million for their Los Angeles station in 99 and sold it in 2008 for $137 million. Once that was their money maker station now they are still in debt.

I don't think radio one is selling in Philly yet, but eventually they will probably have to. I wouldn't be surprised if they get out of the radio business completely within the next 10yrs and focus on tvone instead. Still with that said, cities with very high African American populations such as Philly will probably be the last to get sold.

BTW, 100.3 is their best signal. If I was CBS, I would buy that for kyw over 103.9

There is no way Radio One would sell their class A in Atlanta. WPZE 102.5 is consistently one of the top five stations in the Atlanta market (12+).
