Radio Station To Debut Worlds First Artificial Intelligent Radio Personality

CTHank nails it. This product makes radio cheaper, not better. Less, not more. Does NOTHING but potentially further eliminate local jobs.

Way to go Dominique! Amazing that you crow on your blog about how great it is that radio would embrace local music, and then turn around and push this. Is Denise going to bring the band on and buy me a beer at the bar? The "millions" in corporate savings you celebrate will come out of the pockets of people JUST LIKE YOU trying to support themselves and their families in radio (and it will take a LOT of those salaries to add up to millions).

Since you're such a huge fan, maybe the boss will let you stay around and babysit the computer...for a little while anyway.

Your frustration is understandable. However this type of thing has already been in the works. Automation is taking over radio at an alarming rate so having something like this shouldn't be so surprising. I am just opening a window for people to take a sneak peak. It saddens me that radio as we know it is on its final leg. But that does not mean it will not evolve because it will no matter if we like it or not.

Nobody begrudges you the right to make money at the expense of others, but for pete's sake don't come on a radio board posting a link to a blog where you brag about how this will reduce the need for talented people and expect a lot of folks (most of whom know someone who has already been fired because of automation) to pat you on the back and say good job.

You might want instead to post the link on a techie board where everybody is excited about the cool new stuff that computers can do....

Dominique, I agree it's a cool new idea, it might even take off one day, this is just not the place to post about it. You probably know how many people here are pissed at KVET and what they've done to their morning show.

Despite what you think I am not making money off this. I did not create Denise. I just took what she could do and applied it to our industry. Look around you CTHank, this is a PPM world. More and more program directors want 7 second jocks. Not only that you have to use a portion of those 7 seconds to say the station positioning statement. I will easily go on to say she can never replace a human on the air. But those days of 30 - 60 sec breaks are pretty much gone.

Sorry but this is reality. This is how the industry goes and if you do not roll with the punches and adapt to change you will be left behind. It is simply an alternative method for automation.

I do not understand the logic behind thinking that this is not the place to post this. This is the radio-info message boards is it not? This is certainly radio related. So technically this is a perfect place to put this.

I have received a lot of hate and negativity about this and the way I see it if you are talented you have nothing to fear. Sure there will be radio professionals who like this idea but then again there will be many who do not. There will be those program directors who despise this sort of thing and want nothing to do with it. That is perfectly okay. I do not see this taking over every single human on the air. However she is ideal for the PD who wants those 7 second talk breaks.

that is big.it also is so wrong.

what is needed is a return to PEOPLE on the air not another way to get rid of more people.

just because something can be done does not mean it should be done.

I agree... too bad Clear Channel is going to see this and all the jocks will be gone by the end of the year. :/

This reminds me of a time back in 91 when a station contracted with me to write a computer program to select their playlist and generate a log, I did, it worked but companies with much deeper pockets and more resources beat me to the grand marketing punch and frankly created better and faster programs...oh well, sometimes we can prove our concepts while others make the money.....

Ah...., THERE'S that final nail in the coffin of radio I've been looking for......

THANKS Dominique.....

Must agree. Not the right place to post this article. It's like going to a teachers forum and telling them that a robot can teach classes and there's no need for human teachers.
