Radio Swing Worldwide is now streaming the hits of the 30s and 40s!

Our newest sister station is now on the internet air, streaming the hits of the 30s and 40s from Houston! Radio Swing Worldwide features the music of the Big Band and Swing era, with the core format based on the years 1935-1945 with an occasional drop-in from the years 1930-1934 and 1946. Our initial playlist of 1,500 songs represents about 50% of our ultimate goal. Right now, we are mostly music but we'll be gradually adding the complete formatics which will include among other fun stuff, jingles based on the harmonies of The Andrews Sisters and the golden voices of Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra. We'll also be adding yearsings 4-6 times per hour similarly to what we do on our other streams.

We're still working on the website (www.RadioSwingWorldwide.com) but you can stream us right now from Shoutcast.com (under Decades / 30s / 40s and Jazz / Big Band / Swing) and LoudCity.com ... we should show up in iTunes.com within a few days.

Your comments and suggestions are certainly welcome. You can email me at [email protected] ...

Radio Swing Worldwide UPDATE: We will hit 5,000 TLH on 4/24, exactly 3 weeks from our launch on 4/3, surprising even me...the trend should take us to 10,000 TLH in 2 months! After reviewing other internet stations in this space, most are foreign based plus most cover the period from 1940-1954 and play a lot of covers of other bands' hits besides the actual hits of the bands themselves. Our coverage range is 1930-1946 (pretty much the end of the big band era) and we only play the "hits" of each band as determined by Billboard (and Joel Whitburn's analysis). So we have a more unique product than we thought (notwithstanding, our Top 40 formatics and IMHO we sound pretty damn good; i.e., we have a very listenable stream)...

Further update: we hit 10,000 TLH for the 30 days ended today 5/6...33 days after we launched and the trend is up up up! Honestly, I had no idea that Big Band/Swing would attract such a loyal audience but we have obviously learned a lot about internet broadcasting since Radio Bop launched over 5 years ago...stay tuned as our new indie music stream (completely different from anything out there) is launching in a few months...
