RAMAR makes it official, UPN Lubbock, to move to Channel 14, WB will be on 22

Announced at 4:40 on Fox 34, KJTV Lubbock, RAMAR will move UPN Lubbock from 22 to Channel 14 permanantly, as of January 1st. 22 will become the new over the air home in Lubbock for WB.

This means that UPN will now only be available on a Low Power station, KUPT LP 14, while KWBZ 22 is full power.

And RAMAR will now have 3 local affiliates.
(Makes you wonder if KCBD shouldn't merge with 28 and 13....)

Will that make Lubbock the smallest market with a broadcast WB affiliate?

Also, is the move pressured by the WB? I have heard that The WB dislikes low-powered stations, as they preferred either full-powered or cable affiliates.

I believe Helena, MT (market #208?) holds that honour, with KMTF-10 having a WB affiliation (the only other full-service station in the market being KTVH-12 NBC). To be fair, I do think that it is serving as the Great Falls affiliate also, which is #170 or so.

Well, it's not like we can't get them on Cox23. Which makes me wonder...
Will Cox 6 now be carrying WB, and if so, will have to turn to 23 to get UPN?
Or will 6 stay with UPN, and WB stay on Cox 23?

The champ for controlling the most number of affiliates is in Victoria -- Saga owns KAVU 25 (ABC); programs the only other full power signal, KVCT 19 (Fox); and owns a bunch of LPTVs: KMOL 17 (NBC), KUNU 21 (Univision), KXTS 41 (UPN); KVTX 45 (Telemundo).
