Randy Michaels: "We've Gone Too Far In Focusing On Women"

http://timeoutchicago.com/arts-cult...randy’s-still-searching-for-some-merlin-magic

Robert Feder hears from "a source" who was at a recent meeting between Randy and WWWN staffers. At one point, the source says Randy expressed that "the basic premise [of the format] isn’t wrong," but also, "there was a feeling that we’d gone too far in focusing on women. You could hear it in the selection of stories."

Maybe this can be their new tagline: 101.1. More news. Less chocolate. ::)

The WWWN deal shows how lax private equity vetting is getting and pressure to create dealflow. It's easy to see this was not going to work. I give 101.1 6 months before the partners are going to start circling Merlin Media like vultures. Q101 may return at some point afterall.

My bet is that they become the first station to play all Holiday Music and than flip in January to a new format most likely Hot AC.

Sorry Doctor, I'm the first guy in the market to have broadcast holiday music. Even if only one song. Even if by mistake. Even if only for a few hundred feet. This year it all started with me, my computer, and my Whole House FM transmitter (107.1).

My story and I'm sticking to it. ;D
