Ratings are In- Is this the beginning of the end for the Hawk

Very interesting results. Big Winner- WAEB-AM w/ sister WAEB-FM Finishing strong at a 10.2

Big Losers- WZZO-being beaten by an AM..Cat Country down almost 4 points and the once proud Hawk, limping in 5th place,
also beaten by an AM!

Seems like the stale music, uninspired and lazy programming is finally turning folks off. I know its 1 book, and I know the Nassau folks will be screaming "Book Placement" But if the results of the Hawk(And the Bone which fell .6 points) are showing a trend, it should fall squarely on the PD at 107 Paxinosa. Now that the weather is nice, and hes out on the links, look for equally dismal spring #s(and Baseball on the Bone will be able to be measured over a book) Between that, and Nassaus woeful financial situation, will we possibly see more ABE stations for sale???

Stay tuned for more in this on going saga.....

Top 40/M WAEB claims top spot
Allentown-Bethlehem, PA (#69)
Winter '09 Quarterly Fall
08 Win 09
WAEB-FM Top 40/M 10.2 10.0
WCTO-FM Country 12.1 8.6
WLEV-FM AC 8.3 7.8
WAEB-AM Talk 5.8 7.7
WODE-FM Classic Hits 10.1 7.3

I think the whole problem with The Bone is that 'White Wedding' isn't played nearly enough.

Better to go with five spins a day, including both AM & PM drive.

That should do it. I promise...

That has to be an all time high for WAEB AM since they went talk.

I wonder what the top rating numbers were when they were Top 40 years ago? They may have beat that!

It is an amazing number and proves AM can compete with FM.

Those of you harping about how WARM and AM in general are dead might take note. Music on AM is dead, but AM itself is not.

Who took more of a hit. I know Zzo is probable ahead of the bone, but who lost more points?

Gotta say, I love commercial free Sundays

Nassau has its' own set of problems right now. Many are financial as Lou bit off more than he can chew. Eventually, the corporate management will have to look within its ranks to find out why stations are having problems beyond the credit crunch/economic issues. A name or two comes to mind.

Actually, I have worked w/ both parties, BS in Scranton, & RM in NJ... RM although a soulless, demon filled bastartd, is a very knowledgeable radio exec. Smart, and has done some good things for Nassau. Although he will burn in hell when he dies, he is definitely a sharp cookie, and knows how to squeeze revenue out of an operation. BS on the other hand, is a party boy. Great to hang out w/ outside the station. But inside, lazy, unimaginitive, and downright nasty and heartless to his charges. There are so many BS stories I hear almost on a daily basis of the way he treats his subordinates, its amazing this guy still has a job now..(although for not much longer I have heard.)
How many times late at night (after midnite) have you heard the Hawk play 3 hours + worth of commercials straight.
Thats because Bill forgot to upload the new log and the automation just spits out spots because theres no music loaded.

Liners and music that hasn't been refreshed, poor morale among the staffers, all that starts at the top, and needs to be addressed to get the Hawk back on top.. The fish rots from the head down... and man is it stinkin up the joint...
