Hey, I thought removing all of those Kenny G and John Tesh instrumentals were supposed to be helping KTWV? Straight down from 3.3 to 2.7 over the last four books? Ouch!
And again, gotta give props to CC. To say they are firing on all cylinders is a huge understatement - They take the top 4 slots, five of the top 10, and the worst performing of their FM properties (KHHT) is all the way down the list at #12. The FM properties as a group are performing so well, there is no room there to even entertain thoughts of simulcasting the top AM station, which is the #3 station in the market.
CBS was once a worthy competitor, but they are only placing in this two-horse race. But of course that is a bit of an exaggeration - tastes are fickle and so are the tastemakers - CBS could again be very competitive with CC in no time. That is how radio works.

CBS will probably want to do something with the 94.7 frequency eventually, but I don't think we have reached the point where its time to ditch a music format yet. I've said this before but this town is due for a Hot AC/Adult CHR competitor to KBIG, a station that could flank KAMP and be a little more complimentary to KROQ and KCBS then the current AC/SJ hybrid or whatever we would call the format now. With KBIG's currently sharing the top spot with KIIS, it has to be on the minds of some over at CBS. This tweaking of the Wave format hasn't done much in the form of reinvigorating the station. Bring on Y-95 or 94.7 the Mix or whatever you want to call it.

I'm sure Estrella TV must do tons of cross-promotion while Univision must do the same for KSCA. Yet the Entravision station is way ahead.

KSCA puts a city grade signal (70 dbu) over none of the IE radio metro, and barely puts a 65 dbu over a tiny piece of it. A lot of the listening that KSCA gets is from IE residents who commute into the stronger signal areas inside Los Angeles County.
KRQB is a Class A, although one with a very good antenna location, but it does not cover all the market; the 65 dbu only covers 60% of the market population.
KLYY is a flame thrower with 72 kw at 1800 feet above average terrain, and it has a very mass appeal format... it covers all the IE market with its 65 dbu signal and then some... 4.5 million péople who are not in the IE survey area.

radiojomo said:The Wave is a dying format and can't be helping their profitability. Without a marquee sports franchise, CBS wouldn't be able to effectively launch a Sports FM. A KNX simulcast could work but would adding an FM simulcast to KNX match the revenue a new Adult CHR could make? The Adult CHR format is getting hot around the country. CBS made the mistake of not moving fast enough with CHR in the DFW area, they can't make the same mistake now. Make a move before Bonneville or another station goes to Adult CHR.
