Ratings from Coastal NC market from (nearly) 20 years ago.

Growing up in eastern NC in the 70s, one of the things I remember best about watching local TV was the Furniture Fair ads, with Itchy standing in the tub of a washing machine on agitate cycle.

That, and the jeweler whose tag line was "I'll stand on my head to please you" with the video flipped upside down...

Here in Jacksonville (and maybe elsewhere) we had billboards with him standing in the washing machine.

The thing about the TV ad was that the "punch line" was Itchy saying "Mrs. Itchy says a Maytag gets everything cleaner."

I remember the "stand on my head" line, but thought it was someone not usually as "dignified" as a jeweler, like a mobile home lot or auto dealer, but it has been awhile.
