Raycom Likely Buyer of Lincoln Financial TV Assets

I know from first-hand experience(ie, I've worked for them) that Raycom is a terrible owner, so I feel sorry for the LFM stations.
 
Yeah they own WIS TV in Columbia SC and the news although still does very well in ratings is nothing what it once was... As the saying goes WIS is a shell of it's former self... CC1
 
Owning WBTV in Charlotte - an NFC market - would have been a boon for Fox to add to its O&O portfolio; but with Fox itself in the process of selling some of its own stations, it was bad timing.
 
What a shame, an inferior company like Raycom owning what were once the two premier TV stations in the Carolinas, WBTV and WIS. Not to mention the huge signal overlaps between, WIS, WBTV, WCSC, and WJBF. A few years ago, that would have been unthinkable. And what will happen in Richmond, where Raycom already owns WTVR, and LF owns WWBT (and beats WTVR's pants off)?
 
If Raycom Media would purchase WBTV Charlotte, it would be a good move for
them; In addition, they should sell WTVR and buy WWBT, which is a stronger
station in the Richmond Market, this company has some good television
properties in places like Memphis and Wilmington, North Carolina, and they
are in the process of building a new NBC station in the Florence/Myrtle Beach
area which is scheduled to sign on the air in time for the 2008 Summer
Olympics.
As far as there radio stations, they may wind up selling these to different
outlets, like Entercom & Cumulus Media.
I'm sure the announcement will come shortly...
 
Raycom may try to find a way to hold on to both WWBT and WTVR, a la SINclair. Of course, Media General would love to get its hands on one or the other---that is also possible, even thought they own the daily newspaper in Richmond, which is their headquarters. Actually, WTVR has a far superior signal to WWBT, and that will continue after the digital transition, since WWBT is stuck with a rather low powered channel 12.
 
I'm hoping Landmark Communications also purchases those stations besides Raycom because they need TV properties than Nashville & Las Vegas, but I'm not sure that they'll own the NBC affiliate in Richmond because they only concentrate on buying mostly CBS stations. Or maybe Meredith Corp. or Journal Broadcast Group could fit in as well.
