RE 27's - Are they or were they in danger of being discontinued?

Anyone have information that RE-27's will be replaced with a new model. Girl whose father worked for EV claimed they had a new one on the way. She even
added it will have a purple or champagne-colored powder coating. This news was given to me a few years ago with little more detail. It is 2005, so if anyone can back that rumor up with real facts....this is the place.

I just got the new Musician's Friend cataloge today. The RE-27 is listed for less than $400...The RE-20 is over $600. That makes me think the 27 is on the way out. It's a great time to buy for anyone into dynamic mics.

Suprising. Arguably the RE-27 is better than the RE-20. I think it is.<P ID="signature">______________

I agree...The list price for the RE-27 is more than that of the RE-20 as well. IMO, the only thing I can reason (aside from discontinuing the 27) is that the RE-20 is a fantasic kick drum mic and this appears in a music magazine.
