Really Crummey Story in the New York Times ...

The Nurse and I prefer Crummey radio to Bland radio two to none!

Fact of the matter is as long as KFWhyEYE is talkin' in PMD, they will BEAT KT'R with it's news block. It's not as simple as replacing Heidi & Ded with more compelling hosts. It's talk beats news in PMD every time.

Bottom line: Phoenix loves Crummey and only Russ Hill is upset the show comes from el Lay!

If I were Russ Hill I would pay Jacobs and Crummey to stay on KFYI as long as possible.

If I were Russ Hill, I'd broadcast LDS General Conference on KTAR, but I'm not Russ Hill, so I wouldn't want to do that. :D
 
The Nurse and I are rather found of MISU. In fact our '76 Gremlin Levi's Special was made by a company headed up by MItt Romney's dad. But back to topic:

You guys are taking this game too far. Leave the guy's religion alone. Russ seems to be a good guy. You can criticize his decisions all day, but leave his religion alone.
 
I almost wish I could send this and not be identified. I want all of you who are curious and critical about Russ to go to KTAR.com and read his blog. Learn a litle about his background in news. It's pretty damn impressive.

And please spare me the "sucking up" lines. After all this time I just don't have to.
 
I don't give a rip about the religion issue, and to be honest, its not germane to this at all.

But, I did read his blog and I found it to be silly. Trying to gin up a furor over Crummey doing a show from LA is pretty lame, especially when his own station is doing a crummy (lol) job ratings and content wise.

If Russ had something to back up his faux "outrage", that would be something indeed, but he comes off as shrill and petty. Russ should channel that into trying to get good hosts, interesting topics, and something compelling to listen to on KTAR.

I have no doubt that Russ Hill is a great guy. His background also looks good, but what is he doing to spruce-up the ratings at KT'R??

Last time I listened (ok, so 30 seconds doesn't qualify) to KT'R, Pat was still on the air in the afternoons. Sounds like he is still programming for Aunt Edna and the rest of the geriatrics in Sun City.

When he starts targeting an audience that isn't shopping for headstones and caskets, let me know. ;)

If Crummey is in LA and still beating KTAR, does that mean that KTAR has crummy programming?!?!?!

He was filling in for that Crummey talk show host today on 55/FYI.

Or at least it sounded like Jim Sharpe.

And he was probably doing the show from Phoenix and not El Lay. ;D
 
I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that Clear Channel would dare do such a thing. Hey, they do this on their music stations, why not the talk ones too.

Yes it was Jim. He also filled in for Mike Broomhead during Jim's old Sunday time slot.
 
So I was listening to the first hour of the show. He mentioned that he and his wife were listening 'in the car' to the Kim Dillon sentencing results. Did it make the news in El-Lay or something else?

Something else, I believe, and nothing short of a total shocker, so I hope
you're all sitting down.

From what he mentioned and inferred early on in the 4:00 hour, I think he was
actually broadcasting from the Cheap Channel Corral in Phoenix. :eek: For once. ;D

He made a reference to seeing the channel 15 chopper ("Katie One") approaching,
as the KNXV-TV plant is nearby, and in his toss to the traffic twins he said
something about making visual contact with them in an adjacent studio.

Of course it could all have been a smokescreen...from (approx.) 370 miles away.

The 55/FYI chief traffic twin has been on this board at times, maybe he can set
the record straight.
 
Crummey comes to town 4 or 5 times a year, mostly for the Smackdowns. Other times, he occasionally broadcasts from the KFYI studios.
But he is exaggerating when he says he has a visual on the traffic twins, as their studio is on the opposite end of the building from the KFYI studios.

And, just because he was actually broadcasting from Phoenix today doesn't take away from the subterfuge of the past, as we have gone over, ad nauseum, in this thread.
It's just that now everyone knows what they're dealing with when it comes to Joe Crummey...but it seems most listeners don't care.
 
To restore credibility, Clear Channel needs a web cam on Crummey when he does his show. Then we will know we are not being duped.
