Recent Columbia news and Rumors (WTCB/WNKT, WCOS, WVOC)

In case you haven't heard yet, Cumulus had released Brent Johnson from his duties at WTCB and WNKT back in August and replaced his morning show on 106.7 with The Bob and Sheri show.

Keven Cohen's station is marking five years and has a new local political show adding to its flavor:

In the meantime, rumor has it iHeart is looking to make some more cuts; word on the street is one of the personalities on WVOC's morning show and/or a popular WCOS morning persona is about to be told sayonara by the end of the year.

I saw on another site ESPN WOIC has dropped those legendary letters and switched to AAA. The station is, of course, being identified by its FM translator frequency.

AM 1230 is now WPCO "The Palm." Translator is 94.9. According to Wikipedia, it started doing AAA on Oct. 11.

Also on WTCB, afternoon host Tony Clyburn is also out after more than a decade. The new PD Steve McKay is doing PM Drive, Cumulus-syndicated Bob & Sheri from Charlotte are in AM drive. Only midday host Jodi Page remains from the line up earlier this year. And you have syndicated John Tesh at night.

Can you imagine, an AC station with only two local DJs?
