Don and Jerry are a great team, but I know I'm not the only one who finds this annoying about Jerry? Don has no problem pronouncing r's anyway, but also without adding a extra "r" to words ending in "a". A professional announcer should be easily able to separate words ending in "a" from connecting to or rolling into other words. It's just a very lazy way of talking without making the effort to separate the words. Don is a great announcer and Jerry is next to him all the time and hears Don pronounce always say these words correctly. I guess Jerry has his own style because he does this all the time. I am surprised NESN has not corrected this, but maybe they just like Jerry being Jerry. I wondah if the Remdawg evah bought a sofer and loveseat at Jawdan's Furnitchuh.
Amic-er Insurance (This I can't understand because they are a major sponsor, but maybe they figure it's Jerry Remy, most Red Sox fans love him and the NESN ads and Pitch Zone sell well for them, so he can say the name anyway he wants.

Plus any other player on a team with a name ending in "a". Or even the name of a team. I wonder if while playing the D-Backs, Jerry said Arizoner?
Actually.....Jerry hails from the Fall River suburb of Somerset, but your point remains valid.
Jerry is NOT there to be another "trained broadcaster".....that's why the Red Sox pay Don Orsillo. Jerry is there to provide "color" and "analysis".....as many other former athletes do for any number of other teams.
His accent aside.....Jerry's command of English really isn't that bad. Any older folks out there remember what it was like with guys like Phil Rizzuto and Yogi Berra doing color years ago for the Yankees?......OY!
Didn't Phil also do those Money Store commercials?
Jerry does commercials for Eastern Clothing of Watertown.
And, speaking of commercials, did the Windows Guys ever replace Johnny Pesky in their commercials after Johnny died? Not that Johnny was a centerpiece for the commercials anymore due to his frail health in his final years.

Jerry Remy is to Boston what Ron Santo was to Chicago and Myron Cope was to Pittsburgh. He was hired to be himself. The fact that he's a much better game analyst than Santo and Cope were (of course, they really weren't "analysts" to begin with) makes Red Sox games much more pleasurable to watch.

I do watch often and listen on the radio to another team, the Yankees. And when the White Sox play the Red Sox on Saturday August 31, I and many others who are not Red Sox fans in this area will watch the game on WGN America with Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and and Steve Stone. WGN America is never blacked out, NESN probably does not care, and I am sure some Red Sox fans will be watching that broadcast for a change or just for fun listening to Hawk comment on the Carmines (Red Sox). It's also nice when ESPN has a game with the Red Sox that is not blacked out.
I know Jerry is a local guy and Don is from North Smithfield, RI. But with Jerry being Jerry, Boston accent and all, and it relates to the general audience and sells, than I guess that's all that matters to NESN and sponsors like Amica. Every announcer has their critics. Hawk Harrelson: That ball's hit deep! Stretch! Stretch! He looks up, you can put it on the boarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd! Yes! Have fun with that one. 8)
I also laughed after reading that. I was thinking of two ways to type that at the same time. I meant to say.....hears Don always say these words correctly.
