Was "Hello Pea-Pickers" on ABC a new name for the daytime version of The Tennessee Ernie Ford show? He used the phrase "Bless Your Pea-Pickin' Hearts" quite often on his shows.

Also on CBS,there is a misprint in the newspaper,it is "Baileys of Balboa" not "Haileys of Balboa".

RETRO BOSTON/PROVIDENCE/NEW HAMPSHIRE TV- THANKSGIVING 1964

Thursday November 26, 1964

BOSTON
WBZ-TV 4 (NBC)
5:30- Movie- Never give a Sucker an Even Break (1941)
6:30- News, weather

11:15- Regis Philbin Show

...did WBZ chop 20 minutes out of the 71-minute NEVER GIVE A SUCKER AN EVEN BREAK to make it fit the hour time slot, or did they go to news sometime within the 6:30 half-hour?...and what's with the Philbin show listed? Was that a syndicated deal, and did it regularly pre-empt Carson in Boston?...

WHDH-TV 5 (CBS)
11:30- Tonight Show

...and how many other CBS or ABC affiliates picked up Carson after the NBC affiliate passed on him in the mid-'60s?...

PROVIDENCE
WTEV-TV 6 (ABC)
9:30- Amos n' Andy

...how many other stations carried "Amos 'n Andy" this late? I know this was the year of the WCIU/26 Chicago controversial purchase of "Amos 'n Andy" after several years of running on WGN-TV/9; the WCIU controversy supposedly sparked the final move that got the series taken out of circulation by CBS in '66...

It sure was. ABC hired Ford in 1962 for a daytime series from San Francisco after he left his nighttime "Ford Show" on NBC in 1961. He originally had a 5-year contract with ABC which would have run till 1967 but the ratings werent great..The name of the show was changed to "Hello Peapickers" sometime in 1964..The show was canceled in April 1965. Ernie's annuoncer was Jim Lange in his first national TV exposure..Lange, of course was better known for the Dating Game which began a few months after "Hello Peapickers" was canceled.

Reply about local "Tonight Show" airing

The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson was not, for whatever reason, broadcast by Boston NBC affiliate WBZ-TV (Channel4), but was (as you may also see in this retro TV schedule) aired on the CBS affiliate of the time, WHDH-TV (Channel 5).

I never understood WBZ's failure to broadcast network TV's only late night talk show of that era, especially as WBZ was in the rather important New England media market (and that Boston TV stations could also be seen by viewers in southern New Hampshire and Rhode Island as well as in Greater Boston).

On the great "It's About TV" site, it's noted "Amos and Andy" played on a late night slot in Minneapolis up until the series was yanked.

Yes, you are correct. Tennessee Ernie Ford had a few daytime television shows, in addition to his Ford Motor Company-sponsored variety show on NBC-TV known as The Ford Show (after the sponsor, not the star) from 1956-61. One was the local southern California daytime TV show called Hometown Jamboree (1948-60), later picked up in syndication; then The Tennessee Ernie Ford Show on ABC-TV from 1962-65, title later changed to Hello, Peapickers.
