Harold Johnson vs. Jimmy Slade. Johnson is rated 1st, 42-5 with 20 KOs; Slade is 7th, 18-8 with 4 KOs. This is a return match. Last year on January 16th, Johnson won a easy one-sided victory over Slade in this St. Nick Arena. This match will have as strong bearing on the future of the light-heavyweight division. The winner should be the most logical contender for the title which was defended on Wednesday. Johnson is a finished boxer, not in the sense that he has reached the end of the trail, but in the sense that he knows the why's and wherefore's of all the moves in boxing. He can box and punch with best in his class. Both Johnson and Slade have had their chances with Archie Moore. Slade is 0 for 0 while Johnson has one victory in 3 tries. Johnson is the son of an ex-heavyweight contender who boxed Jersey Joe Walcott, as a matter of fact, Harold himself has boxed Jersey Joe. Johnson looks like a sure winner here. He carries too much TNT for Slade.
