The first American performance of the opera 'Sleeping Beauty,' originally composed as a marionette show. Arnold Schulman has adapted the story for American audiences. It opens with a puppet sequence in an enchanted forest. Fairies and elves are summed to present their gifts to a newborn princess. A witch arrives and casts a spell in which at 21 the princess will fall asleep and be awakened only by April. This all comes true in the course of the story, and yes, April turns out to be a prince. Also excerpts from the film, 'The Conquering of Everest' will be shown. Sir Edmund Hilliary, George Lawe and Charles Evans will be on hand.
