from Doylestown Intelligencer
5 WNEW Ind New York
6:00 New Zoo Revue
It's funny to see New Zoo Revue on a mainstream independent TV station. Channel 67 the HSN station in Smithtown, Long Island used to put a snowy, but watchable signal into Bristol, Connecticut and I remember in the 90s they aired New Zoo Revue. I also remember W13BF in Hartford airing New Zoo Revue on Saturdays. W13BF showed Spanish Programming from Telemundo, Italian Programming from RAI, and some Polish and Greek Programming as well. At least one of the Polish shows was locally produced. Later still when I was much older Channel 43 in Brideport, CT aired New Zoo Revue as their E/I programming back when they were owned by EW Scripps for their now defunct Shop-at-Home Network.

Doylestown certainly had a great deal of station choice if indeed they could receive all of these stations! Mostly summer reruns in prime time on this date, but the Independents had some good programs.

A few things missing on the New York stations...

On WPIX, something aired in the 5:00 am hour. Not sure what it was at 5, but I'm certain they were airing another repeat of Independent Network News at 5:30--the national version with a late update. And at 4:00 pm there was no way they were double-running Voltron...either more Tom & Jerry, Scooby-Doo or another sitcom (maybe Good Times) aired at 4:30.

And on WABC-TV, that station signed-on at 5:30 with Morning Stretch.

It was definitely summer season on the independents. WNEW-TV rested Three's Company and All in the Family and WPIX did the same with Alice and maybe a couple more shows, WOR-TV was running a hour of Sally Field's short-lived sitcoms, and Private Benjamin was on in both NYC and Philly. WTAF-TV was running The Ropers in place of its parent show. And the PBS stations gave the classroom instructional stuff the summer off.

And NJN...as a kid I lived for the hour of Uncle Floyd and Dark Shadows. But here in NYC the North Jersey stations (50 and 58) ran Uncle Floyd at 6:30 and DS at 7:00. To this day, still not sure why.

In both Philly and NYC, Wheel and Jeopardy! aired on different stations at this time!

There was a period where the shows overlapped for a week IIRC. Just a week, and probably some fluke that would never happen now, but I recall it being mentioned in the Philly Inquirer.
