Both KCRA and KSBW made a mistake in not carrying Classic Concentration then. KCRA would start airing it in 9/1989, 2 years after the debut. Did KSBW ever carry it. And NBC made a big mistake in 1989 for axing Sale of The Century (whose last 18 months I did not get to see until USA reran the show) and Super Password. The soap Generations, in spite of some good casts members including Kristoff St. John ,now on Y&R, Patricia Crowley of Please Don't Eat The Daisies and Joe Forrester fame, Richard Roundtree (shaft) and Dorothy Lyman (AMC, Mama's Family) it just did not go over well inthe ratings. I raised hell at KCRA for not airing CC except for the day before Generations started airing on KCRA3 on a tape-delay and I even wrote The Sacramento Bee demanding that viewers write or call KCRA-TV about adding CC to the lineup. Before that, KSCH (now KQCA) had CC brieflyin 1987 and KOFY in SF did too, befoe KRON got it. I wish NBC would revive Concentration.

According to a Nov. 89 Modesto Bee listing, KSBW 8 still didn't air Classic Concetration, so I guess it wasn't shown there at all. (Google News Archive only goes up to Dec 31 1989 for the Modesto Bee archive)

This was likely the updated version of the Chuck Barris game show, hosted by San Francisco disc jockey Don Bleu.

I guess in Monterey-Salinas you had to watch Classic Concentration on KRON TV 4 unless KCBA TV Fox 35 took the show. NBC should've forced their affiliates to carry game shows from the mid 1970's before Fred Silverman came to the Peacock from ABC to 1994 when Caesar's Challenge got the axe. If NBC were to go back to doing daytime games what other show besides Concentration would you revive?.

Sad about KCRA not airing Classic Concentration Bobby!

As I told you, Jamey, KCRA DID air CC from 9/1989 to 12/93 (after a brief timeout CC was in reruns on NBC from 10/1991 to New Year's Eve 1993). I wanted KCRA to carry it after NBC lost Wheel of Fortune to CBS after Rolf Birnirschke failed and the show moved to CBS when Bob Goen, later and ET co-host took over. NBC replaced Pat and Vanna(they still were and still are on nightly) with reruns of The Golden Girls . After several letters, phone calls and letter to The Sacramento Bee, KCRA caved in after Win,Lose or Draw daytime ended (the syndie version stayed on) and finally carried the show on the Tuesday after Labor Day 1989. (3 had the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon the day before with Stan Atkinson, Maragaret Pelley (later Larson after she moved to NBC) and Bette Vasquez. KCRA did not carry the 1990-91 To Tell The Truth and for a time in the 1980's Another World was not on KCRA, it wa son KSCH (now KQCA My 58).

OOPS, I meant Rolf and Vanna, Pat was doing his ill-fated CBS late night show opposite NBC's Johnny Carson and of course still doing Wheel with Vanna nightly.

Channel 20 had stopped carrying 'Price' a year or two earlier. KPIX didn't carry it again til sometime in the early 90s, whenever they cancelled their 'People Are Talking' show.

I remember when KOFY TV 20 had The $25,000 Pyramid ,TPIR and Card Sharks -Bob Eubanks all from CBS and Classic Concentration from NBC. I looked forward to those before I went to work when I did not have to go in in fill in for someone or go in to get extra money. That was a cool lineup. But when CBS and NBC ,like ABC and CNN had the Iran-Contra hearings ,bumping soaps and games,TV 20 used sitcom reruns that week. I think 20 also aired The Doctors and Another World both from NBC, and they also carried 1982-83's Fantasy with Peter Marshall,in one of his post-Hollywood Squares shows. Didn't they also air Battlestars?.
