I noticed KPIX pre-empted The Price is Right for their own show People are Talking. Most CBS stations pre-empted the 9:00 hour of game shows so I'm surprised they didn't air TPIR at 9:00. Also, KRON didn't air Search for Tomorrow at 11:30 or any other time.

KRON preempt many NBC programming, but not like WBZ.

'Lie Detector', this iteration, lasted one season and was hosted by F. Lee Bailey. I remember watching and liking it. He had some high profile guests on there including the Howard of 'Melvin & Howard' fame. The show concluded he lied about his relationship with Howard Hughes.

'Happy Days' was in its next to last season still going through a ratings decline that began when Ron Howard left the show.

KPIX(a Group W station) rarely showed TPIR, until the CBS-Westinghouse merger in the '90s made ch. 5 an O & O. Even when TPIR was a half-hour show airing at 9:30, KPIX aired a different local talk show, hosted by Bing Crosby's wife, Kathryn, in that slot. Eventually, after TPIR began airing at 10 Pacific, to compete with 'Wheel of Fortune', that Crosby show was replaced by 'People Are Talking', since KPIX figured they'd rather hold onto the talk-show audience.
At the time these listings were published, TPIR was running on channel 20 in San Francisco, which was not listed (or carried on cable at that point) in Sacramento.
It's nice seeing these Sacramento/Bay Area 'mixed' listings, but I wish the 'Chronicle' archive was easier to access.
