On this same day where PBS stations including my own station: KPBS in San Diego kicked off the December 1977 Membership Pledge Drive called "A Different Picture for the Holidays" running Friday November 25th through Tuesday December 6th!! Where it premiered many specials like "The Merry Widow" from the San Diego Opera starring Beverly Sills, Hollywood on Trial, Delia Reese and Woody Herman in Concert, The Nancy Wilson Special, Festival in Vienna, The Snow Goose: An Ice Ballet, Big Bill: The Story of a Heron, A Gift to Last, Great Performances: "Sarah!", plus encore presentations like the Festival '76 pledge special of Boston Pops in Hollywood, plus PBS regular favorites and more...

Price Is Right was blacked put in San Francisco and Sacramento??
KPIX (SF) started blacking out TPIR on November 7 by expanding their news local talk show The Morning Show (later People Are Talking). KTZO (later KOFY) Ch. 20 started carrying TPIR for KPIX Dec. 8, 1980, and returned to KPIX Dec. 9, 1991 after People Are Talking's cancellation.

As for KXTV, they moved TPIR from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM on May 9. On Sept. 19, KXTV blacked it out for Tattletales and Here's Lucy. TPIR returned to KXTV April 23, 1979, the same day CBS premiered the Tom Kennedy game show Whew!, which ironically did not air on KXTV. Instead, they aired reruns of The Joker's Wild (probably from early in its first syndicated season), and then The Liar's Club.

Price Is Right was blacked put in San Francisco and Sacramento??

If you look at a lot of these schedules from the '70s into the '80s, and compare it even to the present day, it's a little shocking that Price didn't have 100-percent clearance across the entire CBS network during its first decade-plus on the daytime schedule. I recently saw another schedule from the early '80s that KLAS in Las Vegas didn't clear Price for at least a few years. I get that the 10am ET (9am CT/PT) hour being often the one on the network daytime schedule that often gets "sacrificed" for syndicated and/or local shows, but it wasn't often that Price that was preempted in certain cities.

I have a feeling the game was tape-delayed, and possibly edited.
That would be my best guess, though the schedules in the papers I've listed as sources didn't say anything about the game being tape-delayed.

UPDATE: I've looked in the Philadephia Inquirer, and saw that game on Friday against the Warriors started at 8:00 PM (5:00 PM California time), so the game was most likely joined in progress an hour later. KTVU ch. 2's listing has it for 2 hours rather than the usual 3.
