For my high school junior and senior years, I was back in San Luis Obispo County, in Morro Bay, which was served by Sonic Cable along with San Luis Obispo, instead of Falcon Cable which I had in Los Osos and Atascadero, thus slightly different channel lineups as I have listed in my earlier post "Sonic and Falcon Cable TV" in the Retro Cable topic. Undoubtedly, because KSBY/6 was affiliated with NBC and its COL was in the home county of the cable system, they had the right under FCC non-duplication rules to request its removal. That is also likely one of the reasons KSBY was on channel 4 (although the other was probably that the off-air signal would interfere with the cable reception ... the same reason KEYT/3 was always on channel 6 on the Santa Barbara cable system).

The non-duplication rule couldn't be invoked by KCOY/12 against KCBS/2 or by KEYT against KABC/7 because they were in Santa Barbara County, not San Luis Obispo County. Similarly, KSBY couldn't invoke it against KNBC in Santa Barbara County.
