Since the Blade didn't bother to list programs before 8:00am EST, would anyone have any idea what aired between 5:00am and 8:00am on the morning in question?

And did Channel 3 in Cleveland really sign off at 1:00am that night? Because unless I'm mistaken, WKYC usually aired programming on late night Saturdays following SNL, according to a schedule posted five years ago on this board.

If anyone's interested, here's a link to that schedule from three months before, in February 1984, for the Cleveland area:

I would include the early morning listings except for two things: This was the Saturday paper, and the Sunday paper for 4/29/84 only has one page, so a strikeout on both fronts. As for whether or not WKYC signed off immediately after SNL, there was either not enough space left to fill out any overnight programming, or they cut back on the day for a time.

In light of this, I was thinking that maybe someone else, other than yourself, would have an idea of what the early morning listings were for May 5th, 1984.

6:30: News (possibly local for one hour unless ABC World News Tonight ran at 7:00)

They probably ran ABC World News Saturday at 7. I don't recall 5 ever doing an hour long weekend newscast...unless they were just planning to shrink the newscast depending on sports overrun.

10:30: News

These are, as the other earlier listing linked here, "Lorain Conversation" and "Lorain News", public affairs shows serving WUAB's city of license (Lorain). The "news", as I recall, was nothing special...perhaps the station's announcer reading news items over a slide.

Barry Bostwick was host; Spinal Tap was musical guest. See:

11:30: Coronation Street (until 1989, Corrie ran twice a week in the U.K.)

This was the CBC's weekly recap marathons. Today, Corrie is now four times a week, and the CBC still shows weekend encores in blocks, though now on Sundays.

11:00: News (did not say if it was local or The National)

Might have been both, with the 6PM edition a half-hour and local news following for a half-hour at 6:30 and 15 minutes at 11:30.

Also, at the time, CBC's weekend newscasts were not "The National" -- the Saturday editions were known as "Saturday Report", and Sunday's "Sunday Report".
