It makes no sense to have two ABC affiliates licensed to cities 37 miles apart as the crow flies. That's less than the distance from Charleston to Huntington (44 miles).

WOAY needs to be a satellite of WCHS with possibly a separate 6 pm and 11 pm cut-in on WOAY originating in Oak Hill/Beckley (think the former WSAZ split Huntington/Charleston newscast). For ownership reasons (WCHS/Sinclair and WOAY/the Thomas family), that idea is probably dead on arrival, however, that said, the Thomases tried to sell WOAY to Withers Broadcasting in 1990 but it didn't happen.
