Now that we've had about a week of Antenna TV (those who have or are watching it)

I Love It! No On Screen Logo Bug At Corner Of Screen Like Most Of TV Stations Around Including Cable TV Stations. Plus No Pop Ups And The End Credits Is Not Squeezed In Half And Sped Twice The Speed. Antenna TV Reminds Me Of The Glory Days Of Independent TV Of The 1970's.

I can tell you one thing; they need to have Sony get more movies. Every time I turned it on after sitcom time it seemed "Blind Date" was on, even when it wasn't supposed to be ::). I mean I like that movie, but not eight times a week.

Otherwise it's a network that seems to have respect for it's viewers. Beyond the expected crew of catheter and Pajama Jeans ads, it's nice. My station does have a logo on-screen for it (their pre-Fox era logo modified with a .2), but it's hardly in the way compared to the blaring color it was when it was RTV.

Better than nothing. The only two shows I'm interested in are Three's Company and Too Close for Comfort (which only has limited Fri - Sun airings). Other shows like The Nanny are already currently airing on Nick at Nite every night, and Sanford & Son and Married with Children can be found on other networks too. So overall I'm not getting much out of Antenna TV. Hopefully they add more shows and mix up the lineup as time goes on.

Would you prefer "Blind Date", the reality TV series? ::)

I agree. WITI's treatment of their logo is a very nice, extremely clever throwback.

Actually they did use that TV6 logo into a few months of the Fox era. Many New World stations did – until Fox actually bought New World in 1996 – use their heritage identities (WTVT, WAGA, KSAZ, WBRC).

The idea seems nice and the delivery (with no on screen bugs), but with shows like "The Nanny" already on so many times of the day and irregular showings of "Three's Company" (not much different than TV Land), mini marathon block type scheduling like TV Land, Hallmark and Oxygen, rather than a more scheduled service (like independent tv stations pre 1995), part of me wonders if in a year (or after Tribune gets the channel cleared on Comcast and Fios), if "Maude" and "Too Close for Comfort" are replaced with "Home Improvement" and "Roseanne", or the likes of "Full House", "Family Matters", "Step by Step" or even more newer shows like "Yes Dear".

It would be interesting if there was a a streaming VOD service, like Hulu Plus or Netflix On Demand or the cable VOD (all which have some classic TV), but the focus of it just be that, on older or classic TV episodes.

"No on-screen bugs"? You mean, there's no animated "antenna" appearing on the bottom of the screen when programming resumes after commercial breaks? ???

Nope. For WPIX-DT2, there's an on-screen bug at the top and bottom of each hour for 60 seconds, and that's about it. My wife's actually flying solo (she's gotten the TV antenna input selected and tuned without asking me) to get her nightly All In The Family season 1 fix.

I don't know how many different ways they can offer diabetes sufferers a blood measuring device that offers "almost no pain", but from an imaging and presentation perspective, it's just fine.

Having Gary Owens as their "voice" is a nice touch, though some Laugh-In would be an even nicer touch. Actually, come to think of it, is anyone syndicating the Dean Martin variety show? I'd love to see them trot out Second City TV on weekend late nights, too.

Sadly, I wouldn't know. I was expecting to see Antenna TV on WQAD-TV, except it never came on, and still is not on today....

That's what I'm afraid of. WGN America used to have a retro night on Sunday nights for about a year or two. That has since gone away and replaced with shows that have been beaten to death on every other network.

It's good for Dennis The Menace, Hazel and Father Knows Best. The Partridge Family suffers from sloppy editing. All in all, so far so good. Let's see how long it lasts before the bean counters get a hold of it and screw it up! :D

Its only a matter of time before the bean counters and "con"sultants get their grimy little hands on it and start running reality shows and back to back episodes of the same stuff thats on every other station. thats one reason I don't have cable. I can see Two and a Half Men and George Lopez reruns for free. Why would I need to pay $80 a month to see stuff I've already seen for free?

One show I've wondered why isn't on Antenna TV that is in Sony's library, although some people probably think it's too new, is Seinfeld. It definitely classifies as a classic more than The Nanny or Married With Children, which were from the same time. Is it because it's still on too many local stations?

I think Seinfeld reruns cost a lot more money than Hazel.
It's only been off the air about 5 years hasn't it? Antenna
doesn't want to be that "new" is my guess.

You may be right about the price of Seinfeld compared to the other shows, but the last episodes were in 1998, which puts it like The Nanny and Married With Children in being shows that mainly ran in the 90's, and like I said earlier, it comes closer than the other two in being a classic show.

I saw a rerun of Hazel a few years ago - can't remember where. It was absolutely awful - and totally dated. In fact, Hazel was considered corny and old-fashioned even when it originally aired.

The show got some serious syndicated rerun action in the early 70s, but that's because it was in color, when indy stations were desperate to strip off-network reruns that didn't have all seasons in black-and-white.

The stations that have shelled out big money for the broadcast rights to Seinfeld might have an issue with other broadcast outlets getting in on their turf.

It's not bad, but the limited schedule for one full quarter is going to hurt them. Sony needs to hurry up with the clean ups of some of the shows on their original schedule.
