Well, if you're going to nominate those two guys, and Brad was a great guy to work with (at JB105, 1980), you can't possibly leave out Holland Cooke and Gary Berkowitz. I think that Rick Everett also belongs in there. ;Dwiegandr said:

Seriously though, Rick is one hell of a guy... One of the nicest I've ever had the pleasure working with.. He's got some good stories too.. Another guy that should be nominated is the Mountain Man... granted he was behind the scenes, he knows more about the history of Rhode Island radio than anyone I know... The stories he's got could fill volumes...

The RI Radio Hall of Fame suggested add-ons are all great, and it's so good to know that so many that have contributed to radio in a memorable way are still thought of fondly today. Every one had some phenomenal moments that made us laugh, take notice, say 'wow'...and believe me there are more names that could be dug up (Dave Grayson WARV & WGNG, Vic Kovich WGNG, The Angel Brothers WADK, WOTB & WJZS, Paul Perry from the B101 days with Daria Bruno, Todd Chase of the JB105 days).
By the way, slightly off topic, the lead story on the message boards shows honors going to some of the industry heavyweights and voting opening up through the fall of this year - and one name of note, the legendary Jess Cain of the WHDH/Boston music days is on that list. I still recall and tell stories of his many skits, those that nearly made me drive off the road on my daily treks to Curry College and pursuit of my communications degree back in the late 70s. The 'Panty Hose' skits still crack me up!!! Thought for a very long time he had to be the most under rated person in this business, but at least he's getting his accolades posthumously.
Soooo, any other names to remember fondly gang?

A man who doesn't need any introduction, since he is quite capable of introducing himself, while throwing all who get in his way, under the bus-- NO, not Jack Casey (But if they have a combination Chiropracter/DJ award, I'll there, applauding him on...)
Props SHOULD go to Joey Claycomb...and the three days he had a morning show with Jackson and the Freak.....I have the tapes to prove he's a talent beyond talent.....
Then again, I'll bury them in a time vault, to be opened in 100 years....

At this point why don't we just say anyone who's ever cracked a mic in Providence is voted in or do we opt for selectivity?
I think everyone's making pretty good arguments for really worthy DJ's and personalities, but the first name that came to my mind for the Hall of Fame was Mike Sheridan.
Obviously there's going to be a flux of DJ's and fantastic talent on the rotation and talk side, but Mike was and is the voice of Providence traffic for nearly 30 years. He's the best at what he does, which just so happens to be a key part of local radio.
Plus, since everyone here probably knows Mike too, he's by far the nicest, funniest and smartest guy you'll ever meet. Total class act, he deserves to be there someday as well.

Mike is the tops in traffic here in Rhode Island. And should be in The Hall Of Fame. Is he on vacation? He has not been

Mike Sheridan, absolutely !!..........I don't think alot of us meant that all of the names we mentioned need to neccesarily be in the innaugural class, I think it just got us thinking of all the good talent we have had come and go in the market over the years and maybe in future years some of those folks will get their due.

At $50 a pop, those tickets are out pricing most in todays economy. I'd love to go, but I can't afford $100 to get me and my wife there.

I do feel your pain - but the bottom line is that costs everywhere are up. And non-profits are feeling the squeeze as much, if not moreso, than for-profits in our state. $50 is not an unreasonable amount of money to spend on dinner (and a show ;D) and costs are being kept to a bare minimum.
This is a great way to celebrate and support the medium of radio in RI, and your dinner ticket is tax deductible. How many donations do you make to charity in a year? Probably more than you even realize. This could be one of them, and you get the dinner and a chance to schmooze, network and/or visit with just about the entire radio community in our state.
There will never be another "inaugural class." Pretty good deal.
And, might I also add that for $25, you can become an Associate Member of the RIRHOF, which will allow you to make nominations for future classes, make memorabilia contributions, give you discounts for future dinner tickets, receive a certificate of recognition as a member, and still receive a tax deduction. It is a one-time, lifetime donation.
