Richard Hatch, ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Star, Dies at 71

Richard Hatch, who played Captain Apollo on the 1970s sci-fi television series “Battlestar Galactica,” has died following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 71.

The actor’s numerous other credits included “Dynasty,” “Hotel,” “The Love Boat” and “Santa Barbara.”

Richard had been my favorite TV actor since 1978, when I saw Deadman's Curve (still my all-time favorite TV movie) and the original Battlestar Galactica (still my all-time favorite series). I met Richard a number of times at conventions and he always remembered me. I was quite upset last night upon hearing the news of his death. I will miss him very much.
