Richmond Buzz: WKHK K95 Fires PD Jim Tice, WMXB to "readjust" format, WWLB PD ?

Cox's country giant fired longtime PD Jim Tice. But that's not the interesting part...on his way out Mr Tice sent a scathing internal e-mail that, among many other things, revealed that Cox has plans to overhaul A/C WMXB. Apparantly a sales rep sent the internal e-mail ramblings of a bitter Mr Tice out into the market at large and now the e-mail has been seen by everyone at Clear Channel (and the rest of the market I assume). The WMXB cat is out of the bag.

Coincidence that Clear Channel Richmond's Market Manager has been communicating with CC's country music PDs in their other markets? Something is brewing, but I doubt we'll see angry Jim programming anything in Richmond in the near future.

Down the street, Main Line's WWLB "jack format" is doing well but the PD is not safe there either. Recently Main Line HQ in Pennsylvania has been quietly reaching out to PDs around the country...why? Unless you plan on making a change?

What does "overhaul" mean? Esp. on a generic AC format.

And does this mean 102.1 (or 94.5, depending on how much of an "overhaul" is made at 'MXB) is throwing the towel for country?

The last one kind of puzzles me? I doubt Liberty's going anywhere soon. Furthermore, I wonder if anything will really shake-up at CC Richmond soon.

But anyway, it's good to know Richmond's worst station (how many times can you play Norah Jones in an hour? We'll find out here on the NEW Mix 103-7!) will be worked on.

WWLB is cranking. Had another great trend. That PD ain't going no where. Main Line is probably looking into doing the same thing in another market.
