Rick Gillette Out as PD of 92~3 Now

Actually rock is commercially viable if it's executed correctly. Look at New Rock 101.9 even automated it was getting better numbers than Now is getting. It would have been much higher if it wasn't sold off. If you put a station much like Radio 104.5 from Philly in NYC it would do well. It is commercially possible to make it work. But every station goes after one another to cut into the same pie which doesn't work well. We need variety. I think Nash is a great breath of fresh air to the airwaves it's about time we got country! Now bring on rock! Also, Nash's morning show is rather boring and if they played music in the morning they would do just fine. I don't want to hear talk in the morning except for my important news (not hollywood gossip) & weather.

I didn't hear about this, but at this point it makes sense. Make it dance/EDM. It's virtually there so as long as you get rid of the pop elements that aren't EDM based.

92.3 Now has tried for 4 years to be that CHR station. And it's been a mess. Musically I don't think the station has been the problem, they are what they are...CHR. I've said it before when the original personalities left, it's about the on-air image. Before, the stations on-air personalities came off very "ballsy" and cool. Now, it sounds "whiney".

The one element of Now that has been good are the mix shows. Make it dance/EDM and guys like Toro, David S, Jay Dabhi, Beatbreaker can REALLY go off!!

Either that or give 1010WINS their "22 minutes" on FM.

Ill say 1010 WINS on 92.3...Not alot of people listen to AM and that would be a perfect time to do so. it helped alot on fm during sandy. I definitely agree that 92.3 has the best rhythmic mixshows compared to 1003 and 1035. In my opinion, i cant see a EDM station working in nyc. I listen to KTU once in a while and i notice they play edm and dance.
I would like to see 1010 wins on FM and an Old School Hip-Hop & R&b station. I would like to see z100 expand edm in their playlist

Plenty of people tune in to 1010 every week. Just look at the numbers and billing. The bigger question is, CBS would lose the overhead of the staff from 92.3, but would they gain enough in billing to offset what they would lose from not having 92.3? CHR usually bills well, so the answer is in those numbers not the ratings that we see.

I don't think 1010 should go on FM. 92.3 should go back to Alternative but model it after Radio 104.5 in Philly. CC does a great job with those lite-Alternative stations. Music in the morning is so much better. In fact Nash should just go all music in the morning. I don't quite get he use of having talk in the morning. I need music to wake me up not talk. Personally on my morning drive I listen to Elvis Duran but briefly sometimes I'll switch to K104 out of Poughkeepsie because they play music in the morning at times or even WRRV if I can get the signal. As for 92.3 they would do great if they went to Country or to AAA even and if they went AAA Fresh could go more of an Adult CHR Route more so like PLJ than they are now. Fresh is like Cities 97 in Minneapolis. AAA like 107.1 the peak would be good for NYC it's not alternative but it's not hard rock and I think it would do better getting more of an adult audience. I personally believe that CBS' only station that's doing well is 101.1. 102.7 needs to just go straight alternative like Radio 104.5 in Philly they're so close to it they just need to get rid of the Rihanna and Bruno Mars tracks and Sara Barellis songs and put in some old alternative from the 00's and 2K-they're the first in NYC to play Mumford & Bastille. 92.3 could go Urban A/C which wouldn't be a bad idea or even R&B only or as Dance. Although I don't know if Dance would work so well 24/7. I like some dance but that's like at night though not in the morning. The station is a mess though.
