RIP - James Gammon - Coach Lou Brown of Major League

...interestingly, he also played a high school football coach in the 1976 drive-in classic The Pom Pom Girls (to keep this note on-topic, a 1979 prime-time run of that movie on KCOP/13 Los Angeles set a ratings record for the station, according to a full-page ad KCOP and Crown International Pictures jointly took out in Variety at the time). Interestingly, Gammon's voice in that picture didn't have the gravelly tone it did in the Major League pictures and Don't Come Knocking, which, coincidentially, I just watched over the course of the last couple of weeks; neither Wikipedia or IMDb explain what made his voice so rough...

I did too. Its funny that he was overlooked in many obits for that role. It was one of the first roles I'd seen that dealt with the early stages of Alzheimers. I had'nt seen "Major League" and have seen him pop up in some character roles.

Thanks for your work, Sir.
